not quite as bad but similar :D it was about 30 miles after i got it, just gave it too much throttle in first and it just slid out from under me

gutted for you dude, on the pirelli diablos that were on the bike for the first 2k miles when i got it, i could spin them up in a straight line, was fun when the back would slide out before catching! those tyres were shockingly bad, but made me look cool leaving uni :D

what sort of damage to the fairing? just scratches? Or has is split etc? Get over to mcnninajs.co.uk, they have a chap there who does professional fairing repairs etc, meant to be great under the username angrypainter if your interested. But might be cheaper if you can find a set on ebay as i dont know what his prices are like.

the fairing isnt split or anything, just scratches and the stickers is buggered, its a pretty rare colour scheme though so its pretty unlikely anything else the same will come up, still doesnt feel totally real to be honest :P one second i was riding an immaculate bike the next im left with pretty furked up one

i wouldnt worry so much mate, scratches are usually only easily seen right up close anyway, mine has been dropped on both sides it seems but you couldnt tell unless you get close. At least this way if you do something silly and it ends up on its side, who gives a ****

Things like clutch levers, gear levers etc arent much to worry about either, just whack some new ones on, forget it happened and enjoy your bike

if it really bothers you, just check ebay every few days you never know what might turn up

Yep, takes a while to sink in when you bin your pride and joy, had the misfortune of doing it a few time. The main thing is your OK mate and you will learn from it.

With regards to the bike, it may be a rare scheme but the paint looks all black with just the stickers giving the colour. If thats the case then you have a couple of options.

  • Get a hair dryer on the other stickers, remove em, them get any scratches fixed by a pro.
  • Try one of the main very good vinal graphics companies out there that speacialise in bike decals. I got a set made up for my rare ZX6R once, they were spot on.

the only problem with that is thats worn a lot of the plastic away where the top bolt is so I cant really get it repaired like that :( who did your vinyls and what sort of price was it?

A decent bike repair specialist will have no problem sorting out that panel so its like new mate. I know a very good one near me that fixed panels as well as done complete resprays for me bofore, he aint cheap though as he down all WSB teams now. Im sure there will be plenty near you. £100-£150 should see a panels repaired and sprayed in black looking as new.

With regards to the graphics, I would be very tempted to have it all black bar the race plate on the seat and the front race plate on the nose, I think it would look very smart. but this is the place I used for my replacement graphics (it was years ago mind you, prob around 10)

Qualty was very good, price was good to. Just give them a call, tell them what you need, sometimes they can source the graphics, scan them and lazer cut them for you. cant hurt to give em a call.

whilst looking for that link I found pics of the many faces of my old R1, sometimes crashes make you rethink what you can do with it :)

Brand new

looking good  which reminds me I need to get smaller indicators!, I have managed to source the original decal £31.80 just need to phone up on monday and order it in

weather today was great , was up and out for 9am, went up to sunny southport :D then had a blast upto oulton park / chester then back to warrington. got home around 4pm , 186miles i done , i blame them b roads ;) :p

That could be a lot worse mate. Don't beat yourself up too much about it. You'll have her looking new again no probs.

Yea, ordered a set of crash bungs, new clutch lever (and brake to make a matching pair) bar ends and a new left mirror, the mirror isnt actually broken but it has some scuffing, all I need to do then is get someone to repair that panel and put a new decal on still looks good from the other side

yeah it does look good, id personally leave it, just keep checking ebay etc

what crash bungs did you buy? As the zx7r requires cutting of the fairings with a hole saw to fit most crash bungs

Personally I would think twice about fitting crash bungs , seen too many bikes flip and cause even more damage because the bungs have dug in.

Also crash bungs have been the cause of a few write offs due to them bending or shearing the engine mountings.

If you want engine and casings protection fit the under fairing type not the stick out ones , in the event of an off I'd rather buy a new fairing.

Your choice ;)

the ones Ive bought just go into the hole which the fairing bolt goes into, the bracket isnt that strong so in the event of a serious off I suspect they would just snap off the bike rather than causing it to flip! the main reason is that depending on how good a repair job is done the crash bung goes exactly where the damage is, covering most of it up ;)

Anyone know of popular sites to sell bikes?
Had my old Speed Triple 1050 gather dust for the passed two months :(

Currently had it on, Ebay (classifieds), Pistonheads, Adtrader and Gumtree.
