well like you say price isnt anything to worry about. other than the MOT being out cant see anything obvious. Is your chain one of those funky coloured ones?

Bike trader has brought back same criteria and dearer.

You can still fit them just I think the beam isnt as sharp if that makes sense, but will still be a lot better than standard, stock bike lights are crap!

It's more about being seen really - can hardly see the beam on the ground as it is now so anything would be an improvement.

I notice a few of you chaps have had paint jobs.

How much is it roughly. just so i know what sort of figure to expect.

I want mines redone but same color.

I was quoted £400 for my bike at a local (well recommended) body shop - thats for a naked bike, so tank, side panels, mudguard and tail piece. I ended buying panels in the colour I wanted on ebay for £200 instead.

Cheers.

my panels are in great condition they just have some scuffs in them. willing to do as much as i can to save money but in the end i want a cracking finish.

Just scared i cant get the exact same decals as I have now.

Its 24 years old so would like to keep it original but just well looked after

Getting the decals wouldnt be a problem, if you gave them to the sprayer along with the panels they should be able to but them on before the apply the finishing laquer.

For a full respray from a decent place I would expect to pay anywhere from £600 to over a grand.

These guys arnt the best or the cheapest but if you email them at least you will get an idea of prices

whats does 24 mean ? you mention it a bit and i thought it was a typing error?

:D

My overriding impression having read that is that it is a slightly tatty bike at a perfect bike price.
I know the stripple is one of the bikes to have at the moment and although that is keeping the prices high I think that because of the issues yours has listed you need to drop the price.
In particular the speedo issue is one that to a lot of money will throw in a fair bit of uncertainty as to how much that might cost to replair and if that's indicative of other electrical or water based problems.

Your opening line that it starts and runs happily doesn't scream out that it's a good bike, it feels hollow somehow and maybe that there is a 'but' coming.
If I was looking for a good clean example of a speed triple I'd probably pass yours over.

Take all I've said with a pinch of salt, I'm not a walking Glasses guide, just giving my opinion.

On a separate subject, what lights do you guys use on your bikes? I don't have projectors, just standard reflector lights, the ones I have aren't particularly good.
I upgraded my bulb to a Nightbreaker and it was visibly better. Like you I couldn't see the old bulb beam on the road but I now can.

Hi,
The going rate for a 'perfect' example of a Speed Triple (07) is about £5500. (private, dealers are more)

My S3 certainly isnt a good clean example, seeing as I rode mine constantly it suffered for it, despite my best efforts.
Still, for the price it would make a good S3 to fix up IMHO.

We shall see what happens, thanks for the advise.

I see why you have not sold the bike the advert is just to full of negative remarks try backing it up with more good points than bad at the current state it reads like a nightmare even if it is cheap.

And telling people you have ridden the bike in all weathers is kinda suicide there is no need for the comment.

Anyway good luck with sale.

ps. I.m in no way saying to lie just need to have more good points than bad.
