Anyone know of popular sites to sell bikes?
Had my old Speed Triple 1050 gather dust for the passed two months :(

Currently had it on, Ebay (classifieds), Pistonheads, Adtrader and Gumtree.

if it hasnt sold on those you are obviously asking too much for it!

There is biketrader and mcn as well

Personally iv sold 3 bikes in the last year, they have all sold within a week, cbr600fs was on ebay classifieds, the cb250 i did up for a project sold within a week also on ebay classifieds, and the zx6r b1h sold within a week on pistonheads

side note, i did the valve clearances on my zx7r today, its done 19.3k miles and id imagine they havent ever been checked, so today i went about it and was pleasantly suprised to find no valves needed adjustment.

One valve was border line, but no change needed, next check which ill do at 32k will no doubt have a bit of adjustment necessary

Can you give me tips on cleaning my stainless steel headers I've been metal polish using rag with limited success & it's a real bitch of a job.

you need a polishing tool like a dremel if polish and a rag isnt enough.

alternativlely you can try very fine wire wool grade 00 to polish it by hand. Its almost the same as pan scouring pads its that fine.

Strange you have trouble selling it. The dealer I bought mine from last month said he can't get hold of the speed triples quick enough. The day he bought them they were being sold on. He just used auto trader.

No, the price Im asking is quite reasonable.
Only had 2 people contact me in the passed 2 months, both time wasters.

fair enough, but there must be a reason its not selling, bike sales will be picking up now so maybe time to try again, pistonheads is free anyway

Just spoken to my mate. If I ake in bare wheels he will powder coat them for me £90.00 for the pair. seams reasonable to me.

Now it is in my head I want to go do it now lol. but I also want to replace the rear disk and pads, front pads. and wheel bearings all round as they are 24. Double handling work doesn't bother me but would you

A. wait until the end of year and do it all at once like I was going to.

B. get wheels coated and rebuild with old bearings and such and just run until end of year when i plan on striping it down?

LOL I was hoping someone would say that.

just scared i start to strip it down and there geshenkt and im then left waiting until the next month to buy bearings lol

Edit: Actually im only 41 quid for bearings front and back sod it. will get it done next month. forgot car tax is due this month.

A.

Do not use the same bearing even if you succeed in removing them clean.

Just looked and can get new ones for £41.11 so will just put new ones in.

I will do the pads and rear disk at the end of the year.

Has anyone got experience with G/G or H/H pads. i notice H/H are supposed to be better for heat dissipation and such but is it noticeable?

Just got my renewal for insurance in - a stonking £235 FC. Rather happy with that! :D

On a separate subject, what lights do you guys use on your bikes? I don't have projectors, just standard reflector lights, the ones I have aren't particularly good.

I notice a few of you chaps have had paint jobs.

How much is it roughly. just so i know what sort of figure to expect.

I want mines redone but same color.

Nice one FF, not sure what my next one will be like :p

Regarding the lights nothing lol, I tried a few different bulbs but nothing vastly improved them, HID is the way forward and its relatively cheap now!

My car and bike insurance have always been low it helps with years of driving/riding experience i guess.

Don't you have to add projectors for HIDs instead? I can't remember off the top of my head if the lights are dual filament or if there are 2 bulbs for dipped and main. Will look at it tonight.
