Yea the Akra's are usually a nice deep sound, and I think Race Cans like that have to be under ummm 107db I think? racers correct me if im wrong lol.

Race noise limit is 105db stationary at roughly half revs give or take depending on cylinder config.

It's quite hard to get over that limit, essentially you'd need to have a short pipe with almost no exhaust packing to fail.

Flyby noise is another matter though!

My bike doesnt have a loud sound other than what I can hear. definitely has a beast of an induction grumble, My next bike (either a zx10r/ Millie or R1) will be loud as hell. yes I want to be a noisy wee git. the kind where people look when you pull into the petrol station LOL

You want a V-Twin then ;)

Should have got an aprilia then. Beautiful sound and wont fall apart ;) (Whistle)

Joking

I must admit, even though its a later model, made after the switched their manufacturing, and hence supposedly now just as reliable as the jap bikes. I still find myself looking over my shoulder to see if bits have fallen off, or expect it to break down (which it hasnt yet!) every 100 miles. :D

anyway, all that is part of the 'charecter' of owning a Ducati. well thats what I keep telling myself anyway :p

LOL. Only actualy know one person thats had problems with their DOOK. mates 748 has a few problems now and then but nothing major

Just out of interest and thought of doing it.

WHat method is used to paint brake calipers?

Wouldnt mind getting mines done so there back to a nice dark gold

I think you can powerdcoat but only the outside obv, Most people just get the outside sand blasted then paint with specialist caliper paint.

cool cheers.

Just something im considering as i would need to strip them back and start messing about with bleeding them again.

yep, if you powdercoat them they will have to be totally stripped down. Pistons, seals the works. And once you pop the seals out your not supposed to re use them, and seal kits as quite expensive considering what they actaully are.

In the past I have just removed the caliper, covered them in Nitromorse to get rid of the paint. Give them a damn good clean then respray using a paint capable of withstanding high temps. A quick trip to halford and you will find there are loads just for this job.

I remember when I was rebuilding the calipers on the ZXR750 the seals and pistons came to £120 per caliper and a new caliper was £135 including new pads. In the end I just bought 2 new calipers! :D

Hmm. I realy cannot be bothered rebuilding them.maby just take them off when I put new pads on and clean the hell out of them and respray them.

My wheels have been gone a week cant get them until next week as the chaps at the BSB this week end. BUT he is going to put the bearings in for me for free. BRAW

Did my first long ride-out with the Shires crew on Sunday.

200 mile round trip from Derby to Skegvegas :D

Needless to say, I was wrecked when I got in

Oh I need to find out about ride outs in my area as none of my friends are bikers. How do you find out about these things?

Local bike shops perhaps ?

Have a google for forums in your area.

or join something like the performance bikes one. bound to be people in your area.

I would be surprised if there none
