BitFenix Prodigy ITX build

First and foremost sod the H60 go for an Antec KÜHLER H₂O 620

MUCH better bit of kit :D

And it's probably gonna sound like a daft question but why didn't you try mounting the H80 on the rear 120mm extract mount

It doesn't really matter which way an all in one is orientated for it to function correctly...

lol that was the first place i tried to fit it!! :p the problems are the sumps........ come to think about it i didnt try and fit it on its side?!?!

I cant get my front leds to light up im a right bint lol but i love yours Mines looking good too ill post pics tommorow when i get my Card -

The only thing with mine is im waiting for the modular power supply still :P

Love it tho.

Im goin to try and go get my front headers to work properly lol.

yer mine didnt work either i will post a pic tonight, the HDD led and power led connectors need to be on the correct pins + and - (they are sided where as the rreset and power switch are not)

UPDATE 4.1
the pics may not look great but its way more tidy and easy to pull stuff out and change if i need too :) also i got rid of the HDD cage to make room for my H100 (when ever it arrives!!) as i didnt really need it.

i moved the SSD to the top of the bottom cage....... to show it off lol

the samsung SSD is IMO better than the M4!

the bitfenix fans only run @ 800rpm MAX! so they are running full pelt and all i can hear is the stock cooler yes :( im going to by some corsair air SP fans as they got a gold award on oc3d.net and repalce the stock fans on the h100 when i get it :)

when i get the cash i will also change the stock bitfenix fans for corsair AF fans for the case so my mini fan controller will come into its own then as i wont want those fans at full pelt!!! :)

My case is here, My case is here.. but I'm here in the office with it :( Need to carry it home tonight.. Mwhaha..

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY you must be over the moon :) are you gonna do a log so i can see what you do?

i think ive seen them, corsair finally making some quiet fans, congrats to them
its a great build i only have a couple questions tho, whats the paint quality like inside, was easy to scratch getting that psu in? and how hard are the fan filters to get to?

there is only one real fan filter which is for the psu but as I have an ax650 the fan only comes on when the psu is at 35% load!!! so its never really on lol but it is easy to slide out from the rear without removing anything :) as for the quality of the the case and paint work, I have been really manhandling the thing ESPECIALY the psu area coz it is tight.

Iv not marked anything it really is hard wearing stuff

what you need to do now is either change logo on the case to apple logo or change your wallpapers to have bitfenix logo!

Looks good, by the way why did you mount fan controller inside?

Because he probabaly wanted 2 fans on the top of the case like me.

aye, coz i want to use all the fan placements to keep the best air flow and you only get one ODD which you cant use anyway if you want to have two top and front fans :)

Buzz been reading the is post and its great i see what you mean about the h80 not fitting. if you didnt have the top 2 fans could the h80 fit in the top maybe?

I only ask because I wanting to get my system ordered soon.

230mm fan front h80 in top(if it fits) and 120mm rear

but move the h80 90 degrees so the sumps face the side of the case not the front if you get me.

yer it should do but you will loose all top exhaust meaning you only have one 120mm exhausting so you may find temps a little higher? would you not consider an H100?

Well have check my build, and I have issues, psu is one, and heatsink :( so I am going to check tomorrow and I can replace.

bad times mate, so are you gonna replace the mobo? whats wrong with the psu and heat sink?

You cable braiding :O its just on another level, how did you find getting the 24-pin motherboard pins out, I struggle as hell to get these out usually, I resorted to cutting them out of the connector itself and just replacing the connector the tools never seem to work for me. Some advice would be awesome

thanks ninja -

i first of all pushed the pin removal tool into the connector block then pushed the cable up into the block while holding the tool so the little pins on the metal pin were pushed right up into the tool while the tool was being pushed down as far as it would go. when i was happy that the tool was touching the bottom of the connector block and the cable was pushed up as far as it would go i just pulled down on the cable, some came out easy and others i had to wrap the cable around my hand and pull really hard.

tbh i went through two sets of atx pin removal tools due to them being so fragile, i bought two from a competitor which were very expensive, like £8 reach then i went on the dock of a BAY and found one for £1.50 which was really strong and perfect :)

Just for your reference, losing 1 fan does not increase temperatures, especially when it's the radiator that has a fan directly on it. Putting a fan above a 120mm radiator, reduces it's cooling ability because air is going up above the rad, and not through it.

as i pointed out he would loose all the top exhaust and i speculated the temps may go up i didnt say they would.

yer it should do but you will loose all top exhaust meaning you only have one 120mm exhausting so you may find temps a little higher?

Psu is non-modular, but i managed to get it in.. but the cables can wrap round the case a few times as they are soo long.. so going to shorten them, just waiting for the tools.

And heatsink was that Vemon one... now while it fits, it means I cant have a top fan, so am just going to put the stock one in until i get paid and then likely get something watery.

im planning on doing the same tbh, although i only have a couple of long cables i think it would tidy the case up a treat, let me know how it goes :)

Well sort sorting out what I want to get wet in my case. will a single 240rad be ok for the cpu?

Buzz I am loving that fan controller.. am thinking of copying you now :D

go for it have you got your trust set up? i will email the link from where i got it from :)

Nunzio a single 240 rad will be more than enough for the cpu on its own.

true that!

is it worth doing the 7850 as well then

There is no hard and fast rule, most seem to go with you want 120 per block being cooled + 120mm extra. Its one of those things though that if you ask 10 people you will get 6 different answers.

you could always mod the case and mount a 240 in the roof and a 120 on the back but on the outside?

that would be an epic build!

**EDIT** from other thread so you get my trail of thought

fit one on the back and mod the case :) 240mm top for cpu and 120mm on the rear for gpu?

My psu comes tuesday and my cpu cooler bro :).

I was thinking of watercooling the system by the way but i duno if i can put a 570 and my cpu on the same 240 rad what you think? im not running any overclocks to be fair im only doing it to make the system nearly unheard.

Im just not sure what i can fit into the case in terms of pumps resavoirds and what fittings i would need.

I was thinking of getting the apogee II block pump combo for the cpu then some kind of gpu full cover block and a small resavoid and a 240 rad this woud all easily be 200 pounds tho O_O not including fittings and other things.

a 240 will do a cpu and a gpu, it will drops your temps over stock heatsinks and reduce noise, as for silence it depends on how loud you have your fans, remember you will still have two fans front and top and the rear PLUS you will have pump noise if you WC.

having the pump intergrated to the block is a great way to save on space but i would rather have them seperate, but thats my choise, is the apogee II pwn compatible, it can be noisy!

i found the only way to have a silent WC set up was to have a large 360mm rad with 6 120mm viper fans in push/pull on 600RPM for the CPU and a 140mm rad with two 140mm viper fans @ 600RPM for the GPU, i also had all the fans on a front mounted fan controller and the pump had a controller as well.

Ok this is what i would put in my prodigy IF i was gonna do a full wc loop inc gpu.

YOUR BASKET
1 x EK-CoolStream RAD XTX (240) £64.99
1 x EK Supreme LTX CPU Waterblock - Nickel Plexi £32.99
1 x EK Reservoir Combo DCP 4.0 £24.98
1 x Mayhems Pastel - Sunset Yellow Coolant 1L ** NEW COLOUR FOR 2012 ** £14.99
2 x Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm 1850 RPM - 3 Pin £14.98 (29.96)
1 x XSPC HighFlex Hose 3/8" ID, 5/8" OD, 16/10mm, 2m, Clear £6.49
1 x Mayhems Fine Silver Kill Coil £4.5
1 x EK DCP Mounting Plate Kit with Anti Vibration Mountings £3.49
Total : £194.39 (includes shipping : £10.00).

This pump controller is £31.49 plus shipping from a competitor

This block for a 570 is £62.99 plus shipping from a competitor

This back for a 570 plate is £14.99 plus shipping from a competitor

So thats £303.86 but you need to add some ££ for fittings and carriage so your really looking at £330

As for placements and tubing i would have the 240mm rad on top and remove only the top HDD and ODD cages, as you saw ocuk do pump mounts which are really good and i would just put the pump and res on top of the bottom HDD cage loose, as for tubing that is down to you and the fittings that are available really, but i think it is all do-able :)

I CANNOT ****** BELIEVE IT, one of the retention screws on the bracket is ****** threaded!!!!!

replacement coming monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

ok this is gonna sound mad but i have the pump mounted with only TWO retention screws! i diagonally screwed two of the nuts and managed to spread the load, on stock cooler i was idling @

and with the H100

and this is 10 mins prime with stock

and 10 mins prime h100

so even with it not fix correctly its still the biz and ...................... its soooooo much quieter than the H80 :)

the fixings will arrive monday :)
