Black Desert Online

I can't decide on class either, the one I like is the Sorceress, but I'm a male and don't want to play female...

I tried the following:

Mage - Powerful but damn boring
Ranger - Just dull and boring
Valkyrie - Very fun, but can't see it being good in PVP late game
Sorceress - My favorite so far

I wanted to try tamer, but I had used all 4 character slots by that point. Got all to level 12/13 to have a quick feel for them.

The combo system is weird, I think I'd rather use numbers 1 - 10. But then again, after a while I'm sure I'd get used to it.

Torn between warrior and berserker going to watch a few more vid about each one then decide, Ill defo group up as it will help me out a lot.

My gf and I will be on from release, let me know if you fancy grouping up. It didn't make a single bit of difference other than collecting things that bit faster, but overall fun doing auto runs and seeing who gets there first lol

I recommend here for guides etc... cracking site:

Wizard I played to level 25. Great for grinding in PvE due to AOE. Great at group PvE due to AOE. Pretty terrible at 1v1. Visually the spells look amazing.

Valkyrie are very strong in PvP I believe and also very strong in PvE. Will be a popular class I imagine. Probably what I'll end up going with on release.

Sorceress is the hardest class to master so poor players will stand out with them. They will also be popular. Good players who master them will wreck.

As with most MMO rangers are great at PvP, slow levelling in PvE but decent late game.

Warriors are pretty decent all round and have decent agility. Solid choice no doubt.

Beserkers are probably the easiest class play and are a decent initiator in PvP. Don't really stand out much though from my experience.

Tamer never played but I hear once your pet dies in PvP you're not that good. PvE they are strong though.

I've not played much but that's the feeling I get and buts I've read.

Having played Warrior in Korea i decided to roll a ranger in CBT2 this weekend but didn't like the class much.

Made a Sorcerer and was impressed with the DPS, first 15 levels were very quick and without any loss of HP.

Couldn't play Saturday, what are your views on the Wizard/Witch?

Wizard/Witch - Good in PvE due to AOE skills. Probably the quickest to level up. Good in group PvP due to AOE skills. Poor in 1v1 PvE. Late game they supposedly tail off a bit but then are supposedly OP when on horseback as they can use pretty much all their skills while riding.

Their lack of manoeuvrability and static casting is what catches them out in 1v1 and in some late game PvE. No real combos o worry about and generally quite easy play.

Tbh the game is mainly about armour, weapon and skill level. Don't have a high level of those 3 and you won't be great on any class. That said some are better than others for different things and some are easier than others.

I've seen quite a lot of people being put off the wiz/witch because it's poor in 1v1 but from what i can gather you're not really going to end up in 1v1 situations very often anyway. I suppose if you stand around in the arena waiting for 1 on 1 fights all day it might matter but other than that it probably won't, not with the penalties they have for PK in the game.

Preorder ends 26/2
Name Reservation ends 27/2
Conquerers Package launch 28/2
Explorers Package launch 1/3
Travellers Package launch 2/3
General Release and Cash Shop launch 3/3

I'm tempted to pre order on Friday (payday)... But is it worth it? I am busy with work, so being able to play on Friday would be cool.

Also, I'm running a 980ti at 1080p, however, no matter what setting I adjusted, in busy player towns, I was getting 40fps? Yet as soon as I left, solid 60fps.

Anyone know any tricks to stop the game causing fps drop loading in 50 players armor in high detail?

Thanks

I kinda think that Sunday is an odd day to launch the game, i know its a headstart so we shouldn't moan but it makes more sense to release it on Saturday? or am i just being greedy?

Are you running on windowed fullscreen or normal fullscreen?? I run at 1080p with everything on max except the highend button checked and get around 100fps out of town and min 50 in with loads of people.

Edit: not sure if my v-sync is on or not so don't know if that makes a difference??
