Black Mesa Source

Only one issue I have with this mod so far is jumping. He just doesn't seem to jump high enough for anything and i'm always finding I have to jump-crouch to even get past hand rails. The ladders I don't mine as they're basically the same as Half-Life 2, get to the top and press F to dismount.

Agreed, I thought "crouch Jumping" had gone away for good in fps, but its back however this is a HL1 remake, graphics and sound up to 2012 standards, sadly way it plays is back in 1998 when HL1 was first released lol

Excellent game (mod) BTW, loving it, but I found this which helped.

Its a 360 gamepad config if anyone is using a gamepad that has an auto jump crouch button, bascially press A once jump, press A and hold, auto jump crouch to jump higher.. Makes it easy, and less frustrating..

IS anyone else having issues with saving? I save it before I log off and then it also saves it when exiting and I come back on and I am at a totally different place its driving me bloody nuts.

Save before leaving, but don't save when you quit seeing as you literally just saved manually.

Oh good god. I've been playing this for ages and totally forgot that you can sprint.

I am so good.

Have you never played a computer game before? :p

It's not like it's unique to Half Life, pretty much all FPS games have it and it is generally bound to the shift key by default.

I always press shift and expect my avatar in a new game world to go faster. I become sad when it doesn't work.

For a mod this is superb. I mean, we all know there's games out there made by a professional studio that can't match up to this.

I've never played HL1, so I can't compare. However, sometimes it feels a bit as if you spend a few minutes running, climbing and jumping, 4 head crabs appear, you kill them. Then spend another few minutes running, climbing and jumping, 3 enemies appear.

Game design has moved on a lot the past 14 years.

Either, top job by these guys.

You mean, it has moved on so as to pander to a growing playerbase with the attention span of... oooh a chicken!

Half Life has never needed massive shootouts every 30 seconds. It has atmosphere. Half Life 2 wasn't much different in that respect.

This, games back in the day had awesome atmosphere compared to todays games [some exceptions like Metro 2033] as it added greatly to the gameplay, Half-Life being one of them.
