BMW and M Power Owners

Trust me having driven my mates M5, even rolling into the throttle that torque can easily blow the tyres off. :D

Though he might be on Pzero, so those aint good tyres. :D

My experience of an extended test drive in ~10c temps was that you really had to be quite aggressive to unsettle the back end.

I absolutely nailed it from 40mph (in a straight line) without so much as a chirp from the back end. If you've got a load of lock on and boot it, of course it is going to struggle - it is a 550bhp (more like 600bhp) RWD car, what do you expect?!

I have no doubt it is a handful in the wet, but no more so than any other powerful RWD car...

I always find it interesting when people state car xyz swings its rear out just by breathing on the throttle.

It is not something I've ever found to be an issue, although PSS tyres would trigger DSC if I quickly wanted to join a gap at a junction and it was cold out. No issue in the CSC6 however.

Very easy to kick in my TC too on the Z4..

I even managed to trigger it over an evil speed bump. :D

but usually 2nd gear if you put foot down in rain/cool weather it'll go light on the back end.

can't say that I have any problems with roundabouts tho, if you put the foot down mid turn then yes the car will loose traction but that's expected.

That's because an E46 M3 doesn't have the low down torque of an M5. My Z4 35i would lose grip a lot quicker than my E92 M3 and they were both on the same tyres.

Bloody epic, I am actually rather tempted, but trust me having driven one in cold conditions on Pzero with stock power they do break traction in daily driving if you give it some, though the traction system works remarkably well keeping wheelspin under control whilst still accelerating. :)

Essentially 30k for 700HP is a performance bargain particular when its such a new car. Only issue is do they have reliability issues, any know weak spots or failures because mapping one means the warranty goes out the window.

I could sell the Mustang, buy one of these, map to 700HP and still have money left. :D

I was only half joking but with the M135i, if you're trying to make a quick getaway, it can start slipping about all over the place on occasion and struggle to find grip (in anything other than good conditions).

Or you can just put it down to driver error, I dunno :(

Does the M135i have the Bridgestone runflats?

It comes with MPSS unless you take the runflat option. I found the M135I to be pretty slippy but completely controllable.

This, only had mine a few months and it's my first rear wheel drive car. Its got the MPSS on and it does slide quite easy if it's wet or flipping cold. In comfort mode the tc sorts it out in no time. Sport mode let's it slide a bit more TC off and it certainly is lively :D

Indeed, mine are on MPSS.

It's actually quite interesting how easy it loses traction but similarly, how easy it snaps back on track too.

Clearly never mashed the throttle on a 278bhp truck in the wet on terrible american roads :P peg leg spin ups ahoy

Still waiting for my car back :( BMW haven't been able to finish the work as the mechanic is off sick, apparently they only have 1 mechanic....wot

So it's been 4 weeks, and I had to give the hire car back yesterday as I was only allowed it for 21 days. This blows

That seems crazy that they ask for the car back even if they haven't been able to fix the problem. Surely it's their incompetence and they should pay the price for it?

The bodyshop didn't supply the hirecar, it was the insurance. And they only give you a hire car for 21 days unless you go with one of their approved bodyshops, in which case you get it for the duration of the claim.

I just find it bizarre that a bodyshop only has one mechanic or cover for when that guy is off sick...

I think I'd be changing insurer come renewal time in this instance. Seems ridiculous you end up suffering because you want your car repaired by BMW. Or is this normal? Have you tried explaining the situation to BMW to see if they will lend you a car on goodwill?

They have offered me a Mini today for the weekend but I have to go get it, and they're a 50 minute drive from me with no one to get me there at short notice :(

Oh well, mechanic is still off sick today as well so I'm now looking at another week without the car

I will definitely be using this come renewal time to get the price down, although they are still the cheapest by a long way when I checked quotes since the claim :(

Its usually the excuse that is used when either something has gone wrong and they need to fix their mistake without you knowing or someone more important has come and they need to work on that first.

I bloody hope not

If the car isn't right when I get it back and they've cocked it up, I'll just end up getting annoyed with it and swapping it in for something else
