BMW and M Power Owners

Or find another £2k and buy mine in around 3 weeks which has all of the above and has the fantastic 6 cyl engine in, plus low miles (16k now I think). :)

Try here: http://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/

Options you want ideally: Automatic (most are), M Sport Plus Pack (HK Audio, Spoiler, 19" Wheels, Tinted windows), Pro Navigation/Media system (widescreen). They are what I'd want as a minimum when looking at a used one. Colour is up to you.

Been looking at this daily ..

Is it a 3L though?

Yo guys

My mum is looking at purchasing a AUC X3 for around £25k in the next month or two. Before anyone says, no she doesn't want a 3 series estate, she has back problems and thus finds it difficult to get into and out of a lower down car. Test drove the Q5 and XC60 also but she prefers the X3.

We test drove a 15 plate m sport with pro nav yesterday and it was pretty nice, however had the sport suspension. Although it wasn't too bad I understand SE has a softer ride?
2.0D is ideal, but I noticed 3.0D comes up often for around this mark also. Dad is not keen on having 3x 3.0D cars in the house though especially as mum only uses it around town

Any must have options when buying it used? She definitely wants pro nav, I say xenons would be nice also and heated seats come standard. Anything else I am missing? IT looks very difficult to find an M sport with M sport suspension deletion or adaptive dampers for around £25k with the xenons and pro nav. The cars for £25k are usually 13/63 plate.

Also is there a difference in pro nav and pro media? Both have the larger screens? Some cars on AUC site say pro nav, some say pro media... I am confused
Thanks

From a 2L to a 3L in a diesel? I am pleasantly surprised ... Maybe a 3L is back on the cards ..

They really aren't bad at all. If driven REALLY sensibly, 50mpg is possible (had it a few times in my 530d). But, to be honest, on average, I had around 40mpg over 46k. Really not too bad at all for such a big car (mine was the estate). I'd imagine a 520d would only average around 45-47 tops anyway, so for a few less mpg's, I'd really be trying to get a 530d personally.

As said above, minimum spec for me would be LCI (so after Sep 13 I think), pro-nav, m-sport + and auto. Everything else is a bonus really, but LED lights would be desirable, as would rear parking camera or surround view, and the MFD.

Seems legit. To work the BMW Warranty "loophole" you want to be thinking about a BMW warranty before 60k miles as it's a cheaper monthly payment than a car over 60k miles but if you AUC from BMW it will likely have a warranty anyway

The 530d is quite obviously the superior car to the 520d.

It is faster, smoother, more refined and has a better standard specification - the 520d has only the basic climate control, the 530d comes as standard with the Climate Control with 'Extended Features' (Which are things you'd expect as standard, like a sun load sensor and more adjustable of ventilation speeds).

The difference in fuel efficient isn't major - in my experience (My Dad runs 520d's, I've had two 530d's) the fuel efficiency difference is circa 10%. From mid 2015 the 520d got an all-new engine - I've no useful experience of the efficiency of that engine but it's unlikely any of those will be in budget.

However the downside is that the 530d's are both much rarer and considerably more expensive than the 520d. There are numerous 520d and it's really not difficult to find a good LCI 520d M Sport with M Sport Plus and Pro Nav quite quickly. The same cannot be said for the 530d - mine took half a year to find. There is also a large price difference - £20k easily buys a nice LCI 520d but you'll struggle for a 530d. The equivalent 530d can often be between £3k and £5k more expensive (The gap was even bigger new).

Essential options are Professional Navigation (Professional Media Package is the same thing - all M Sport's with Pro Nav have Pro Media Package which also includes BMW Connected Drive services) and automatic gearbox. The rest are nice things to have rather than essential, the LCI already has Xenon headlights etc as standard equipment and leather has always been standard on an F10.

LED headlights, forget it, you'll never find a 520d with those fitted. Things like MFD again nice to have but really not worth hunting out or paying extra for. Audi Virtual Cockpit it is not - it does nothing the Full Black panel display doesn't also do, it's just the same information presented in a different and more digital way. The Audi system is considerably better and well worth having.

LCI cars built after March 2014 have Full Black Panel and Tyre Pressure Monitoring as standard.
