BMW and M Power Owners

It's an air conditioned unit. Chills a can nicely, but clearly doesn't keep chocolate from melting, although I guess had the engine been running all day and I hadn't left it in there, it may well have worked :)

It's not - it just happens that the ducting for the rear vents runs beneath it, which has the side effect of making it feel a bit colder. Hence why the chocolate still melts!

It's no more an air conditioned compartment than the boot is heated because the exhaust runs under it :D

Stop ruining my illusion. It keeps my drinks cool :D

Oh right :D
I would have thought BMWs had a AC cooled glovebox? My brothers 2012 A5 and my dads A8 have it. Just a little cover thing which you can turn at the back of the glovebox
Cools drinks quite well actually

Even my 2012 Citroen DS3 had an AC vent into the glovebox, unfortunately my old Z4 doesn't know such luxuries :p

Depends if you can strip/fit it - reconditioned unit should be around £500 which isn't the most expensive fix in the world
I don't really have the time these days with a toddler and a house renovation project. In fact the car is worth probably 2k or less. I've decided to buy a new car and try and fix it in the next few months.

F30/31 M Sport owners: how hard is the M Sport suspension?
How much worse is the M Sport setup on 19s to SE and the variable dampers?

It's not that hard if you've got the 18's.

I would imagine nobody can answer the second question as there is probably one SE spec 3 Series on Variable Dampers. It's metallic beige, has no satnav and belongs to a chap called Reginald.

:D

What about M sport with variable dampers? :p

I meant SE and/or dampers btw.
The M3 I drove last week was on 19s but the Comp Pack added trick dampers so I doubt that's comparable.

I have 19's with adaptive m sport suspension but not an SE. Its quite firm even in "comfort" mode, firms up even more in sport mode.

Dunno if thats any help? Fine for me, my previous car was rock hard on coilovers and car before that was pretty firm(civic type r) :p

I have an LCI F31 on 19" run flats with Msport suspension (no variable dampers). Previous car was an F20 1 series on non-runflat 16's with SE suspension.

The F31 ride is obviously a little harder, but far less so than I expected. I'd say it's absolutely fine apart from when you accidentally hit a pothole at speed, when it makes such a crashing noise it's amazing it doesn't break anything.

M3 comp pack has retuned suspension settings over the standard M3, so the most comfortable/pliant setting is roughly equivalent to the sport setting in a normal M3, which I find personally too stiff for daily driving.

I have the adaptive dampers in my M135i. They are basically like SE in comfort mode and M Sport in Sport/Sport+ mode. I chose them because I found that the M Sport suspension was too stiff for comfortable daily driving, but it's very much a personal thing. You'd have to try it out for yourself.

Had a 335d F31 with adaptive suspension, as it's xdrive the standard M Sport model would only come with SE suspension as it sits 10-15mm higher for the front drive shafts to be level (I think it still gets the M sport anti-roll bars). I have driven a standard xdrive car and it was a comfortable ride but it was soft on the handling front with significant body roll in the corners the adaptive dampers takes it back upto M sport levels maybe even slightly stiffer at times but allows it to be comfortable when needed I found it a good balance unfortunately very few cars are spec'd with this system.

Swapping our 2006 E90 330i M Sport for a 2011 F11 520d M Sport later :) A bit annoyed to be going diesel for the first time, but there are so many more to pick from compared to the petrols!

Our 330i is so well specced its been tough to find one with a similar spec level in budget with decent mileage, but we've managed to get professional nav, adaptive xenons, 19s, auto and both the exterior and interior colours I was after so I'm happy enough.

Ended up part exchanging, and managed to haggle them down a little over £1k from their original cost to change so pretty happy with it. Of course I could have saved some cash by selling privately and not buying an AUC, but happy to pay a little more for the easy transaction and peace of mind an AUC offers!
