BMW and M Power Owners

For some reason I was only seeing UK results. Sorted now. Thanks very much :)
No worries!
eBay has a habit of doing that. Rather annoying as, as you'd expect, eBay.de has loads of stuff for German cars. A generalisation of course, but I've never had a problem buying from there and there are lots of reputable sellers.

I'm now a BMW owner!

Picked up my LCI F11 535d yesterday, very pleased :)

Glacier Silver
Comfort seats
Pro Nav
HUD
Speed limit display
Adaptive Xenons
Soft close doors
Folding mirrors
Sports Auto
Comfort access

Managed 41 mpg on the 100 miles home, nowhere near the claimed economy but to be expected I guess.

Hi guys, looking for a bit of advice on an F20 125i my brother is looking at buying.

What's the latest mileage or age the first service should be carried out? Also do all services have to be done by a BMW dealer to take the BMW insured warranty? If not what are the servicing requirements to be eligible? Does the 60k price hike still exist for the warranty?

Thanks

Servicing is condition based, so could be anything from 1-2 years from new, but depends to an extent on how it's driven. My M135i needed its first service at ~23k miles (about 10 months old) and its second at about ~47k miles (just about 21 months old).

Servicing does not have to be done by a main dealer but genuine BMW parts have to be used and the service carried out to BMW's specification for it to be covered within the warranty terms.

Yes, there's still a price hike for the extended BMW onsured warranty over 60k miles.

Great thanks for that. Its first service was at 25k I think and I thought that was quite late, but judging by your post and when yours was due, this sounds about right.

It's at a Lexus dealer and they have advised they will service before it goes out, so will tell my brother to make sure they are going to use BMW parts if he goes ahead.

So I have had the new 540i x drive for a bit now. It’s not mine but it’s a really good car. Very comfortable. Quick enough. I found the x drive to be a bit pointless but it’s a nice care overall. If it had electric torque fill like the i8 it would be amazing.

Saw one of the new G30s in the dealership, liked the new cabin. Bit more leather and stitching around the place, huge screen, it also had the new comfort seats, they come in nappa and look awesome. I'd have one in a flash if they weren't upwards of £50k for a well specced one

Still halogen indicators unless you spec adaptive LEDs though. Come on BMW, you can do better than that :(

Does anyone have trouble with their ConnectedDrive connectivity? Mine generally works fine (apps, Google, controlling via my phone, etc) however it has twice now completely refused to connect to anything for a period of 4-5 days each time. The car just says 'No Connection' and requests via phone fail, then miraculously a few days later it all comes back online.

Thoughts?
Yes! Getting really fed up with my Connected Drive and its random dropouts. 2016 640D with an iPhone 6S. Gripes so far:

  • If you've listened on Spotify or Audible you can't listen to anything on the Apple Music app without unlocking the phone and closing Spotify and Audible
  • When listening on Apple Music (the phone's default music app), if you scroll through to select tracks then it often doesn't display track names
  • When selecting tracks via the scroll wheel it can take up to 5 seconds for the track to change
  • Listening to some music, call comes in, take the call. When the call ends it starts playing an audiobook from Audible rather than the song that I was listening to
  • Phone occasionally disconnects from the system and has to be completely removed and then re-installed
  • Text messages not showing up on iDrive when received

I love this car but the integration with my phone is terrible. Is this normal behaviour for this system? My 10 year old Ford has better phone integration than this.

I've never had any of those issues described. Mine literally works flawlessly with the only irritation being when I press phone it takes me to the phonebook as default every time.

My e46 fob stopped working. Little did I know I had to code it to the car and not buy a new battery. Silly me.

On your phone, go to Settings>bluetooth/bmw**whatever** and click the "i" next to it. Make sure "show notifications" is on.

I don't get any of the other issues, the only grip I have is that it won't chop between podcasts and music nicely, I have to use my phone. Once its on ether it will stay within that media type. I think this is because I coded enhansed bluetooth on this car (M235 2016). The last one (120d 2014) I picked it as an option and could select podcasts or music from idrive. Only apple music has worked will for me, spotify and deezer didn't report song names properly on the idrive for me.

My main gripe is that there isn't a simple button to change track if you aren't on the multimedia screen, unless I'm missing something? Also there's no pause button, only forward/back and volume down. First world problems I guess

Yeah you're missing things. Read your manual. It will enlighten you.

I do find the lack of track change button on the steering wheel a bit of a PITA. Sure, I can scroll through the tracks on the HUD and select one, but sometimes, I just want to press "next" without reaching down to the softkey buttons.

Regarding Pause, that little volume knob. You want to try pressing that. :)

you can scroll track listings using the scroll wheel on the right hand side of the steering wheel, just as you can scroll last dialled numbers if you press the phone button first. The track listings will show up in the centre of the dash display (or in the HUD display if you have HUD).

My annoyance is that when playing via bluetooth you can press the right hand scroll wheel to go forward/next track. When playing MP3s stored on iDrive you can't do this, you have to either move the scroll wheel up/down to pick your own next track, or use the main iDrive wheel to skip forward to the next track.

Daft.

I can't recall my track listings showing up on my HUD. Gonna have to check that out!
