BMW and M Power Owners

E46 lads.....

My vert is being a annoying lil fool, i have entry aid on mine, so upon pressing unlock twice, when you open the drivers door the window drops allowing easier entry into the car, really handy because my garage is tight, when you close the door the window rolls back up, except its now stopped working, the windows drops all the way down and doesnt go back up

Has anyone experienced this before?

Sorry. You have what now? Entry aid? Do you mean where the window drops like an inch when you open the door?

Nah mine does that bit fine, with entry aid the window rolls down just below half way when you open the drivers door, then when you close the door the window rolls back up, its amazing how i cant even find a video of this on the YT to show you what i mean!

I stumbled across this on babyBMW yesterday and thought it might be useful for other BMW owners or those who can't be bothered to read the car manual:

It's essentially a discussion about features in your car you might not be aware of. Each member posts about something handy they discovered as it might be useful for others! For example, I didn't know that the radio buttons can also act as bookmarks for navigation destinations (you hold the button and it saves the destination).

To be fair he already mentioned "Do you mean where the window drops like an inch when you open the door?" A window that rolls down half way is rather unusual

The window dropping an inch isn't the entry aid it's got something to do with the door seals for door opening. That isn't the feature the guy meant.

The window dropping half way is to make it easier to get into the car in tight spaces as the window can obstruct entry when it's fully closed. It is, as I said, a standard feature on BMWs without door pillars. Sometimes it's not enabled, but it's there and accessible if coded.

He wouldnt be able to open the door at all if the window didnt drop, the reason that (all?) cars with pillarless doors drop their glass is for the glass to insert up into the seal when it is closed.

As Fox mentions this is an entirely different feature....

I use that all the time with mine as parking spaces are usually tight here, it really helps to be able to duck your head into the space above the door where the window would be. I can never work out exactly how the feature is activated 3, 4 or 5 clicks of the unlock button, so I just click it repeatedly as I climb out. It works the same for the passenger door too FYI.

As far as im aware, 2 Unlocks should activate this feature, unless you have selective unlock which means 3 clicks on the unlock activates it, if you have comfort open and closure then you'll need to press and hold on the 3rd unlock

Tried replacing the batteries? My range is about 30ft. My fob doesn't allow to close the roof remotely though.

Battery is soldered into the key, i've read about doing it and i've got 3 keys so have a back up, just never really took the dive, might look into it

I can open and close windows and roof remotely, although i had to program it, but it does it no issues.

This is why I find this a strange "feature". If, like most BMWs since the late 90s, you press and hold the unlock button, all the windows go down anyway (and the roof in some cases) surely that's the better feature :D
