BMW and M Power Owners

Don’t worry about it, my sisters M4 has been in their family for a fair few months now, it’s done less than 1500miles since they’ve had it, it would probably have worked out cheaper to rent one as & when they wanted to use it!

They like the car so fair enough I guess....

I'm 24 and get no end of grief for driving an F11. Gets called an old man's car all the time.
I’m nearly 47, when I got my 735i last June one of the lads at work asked me “why was I in my Dads car?”

I wouldn’t have paid any attention bar the fact he’s nearly 60 and drives a Chrysler 300C of all things - an old mans car if ever there was one!

People are weird. :p

3.0 straight-six to a 2.0 turbocharged engine. It also looks like the car will be FWD instead of RWD in Europe? Unless I'm reading that wrong? It makes for grim reading anyway.

Doesn't seem to be the most reliable article in the world so I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

The 1 Series may well be FWD (urgh) come 2019, but I think the 135/140i will be AWD. It'll be disappointing if it becomes a 2 litre 4 cylinder - we've got more than enough of them in the world and we don't need anymore. Whilst it may lose some weight, they'll be able to push the engine back in the engine bay further, mount it lower, and be better to drive etc etc , it'll lose a hell of a lot of character which differentiates that model from the standard unstirring 2 litre 4 cylinder FWD/AWD cars from the rest of the manufacturers.

i thought it was general knowledge the 1/2 series were going fwd, but M versions were possibly AWD, copying the A45. think it's meant to share the same platform/chassis as the new Mini JCW.

I'm hoping it helps with the resale costs of the existing M135i/M140i's as they will be the last 6 cylinder rwd hatch...

Mentions FWD then says it's not all bad, because it'll offer roomier interior. Yeah, because that's a real benefit when you're losing the straight 6 and RWD

Yeah coming off the FAAR platform which is adapted from the current MINI/2 series Active and X1 UKL front wheel drive platform, this gets BMW ready for engines and EV options.

Service indicator has been off completely, not lighting up at all recently, just been out in my car and noticed it illuminated with 4 green lights showing (which tally’s with my miles done) weirdly all my dashboard pixels are working fine too (common fault on my era BMW’s) where previously they were nigh illegible- I doubt it’ll last mind you!

Going to get the instrument cluster repaired in the new year which should cure both issues I’ve been told by the repairer...
