BMW and M Power Owners

Service indicator has been off completely, not lighting up at all recently, just been out in my car and noticed it illuminated with 4 green lights showing (which tally’s with my miles done) weirdly all my dashboard pixels are working fine too (common fault on my era BMW’s) where previously they were nigh illegible- I doubt it’ll last mind you!

Going to get the instrument cluster repaired in the new year which should cure both issues I’ve been told by the repairer...

Who are you using? I slightly damaged the speedometer whilst sorting my pixel issue (now 100% fixed though!) and I don't have quite the confidence in its readings that I should (it under-reads by ~1 mph at 30 mph, and seems just slightly sluggish to move).

I’m a member of e38Empire, a closed group on Facebook.

The proprietor of this company - Boyd Beattie - has come highly recommended in that group, he charges approximately £80 exchange as far as I know for a cluster repair.

Does anybody have a link to any companies that supply EGR coolers other than BMW? replaced mine with one from a breaker last summer and it's gone again wouldn't mind putting a new one on instead of one from a breakers but can't stretch to BMW prices at the moment.

Two egr cooler failures? Thats...unusual!

Yup I know, the cars a 2006 325d the original went whilst towing a heavy trailer I've not confirmed the second failure yet but it's showing the same symptoms albeit not as big as when the original went (coolant smelling white smoke on startup and under acceleration which clears once warmed up, using coolant with no signs of leeks). The breaker part if I remember was older than my Car as well so possibly didn't help me in the long run.

I find it odd as it's what I believe to be a 'static' part. There's no moving or electrical components to it. It should just sit there and have coolant flow through it on one side and exhaust gas on the other. I honestly wouldn't see it as a weak link in the chain!

Heard of thermal expansion and cycling?

Recently picked up an f20 n55 m135i, wish I'd took the plunge sooner! Are there many owners on here?

I was hoping to pick up a new one in a few years but that won't be happening if the fwd/IL4/2.0 rumour becomes a reality, the 3.0 IL6 and rwd are what make this car amazing and I'd rather keep hold of the current steed if this is the way they're thinking of going.

Only had a poke around one in the showroom while getting something fixed on my car. It's definitely nice inside although for the size of the vehicle the boot is surprisingly small. No idea how it drives :)
It’s probably because it’s not a big car, just a raised up 3 Series .

Must be a bit bigger than that no? X1 is about the same size internally as a 3

X1 is built on the 2 Series Active Tourer platform not the 3 Series. The X3 is the 3 Series based SUV. It's a bit more than just a raised up 3 Series (ie, it isn't like an A6 Allroad is to an A6) but it is F30 based.
