Yeah, no electric folding mirrors. No biggies, but I just would have thought that these basic toys would be on as standard on, what is to me, a premium car.

Very much looking forward to getting more miles on it and the roads to dry a bit so I can open her up a bit.
You tend to find the more premium the car the less you get as standard and the more the options cost.

E.g. Folding mirrors

Kia - standard
BMW - approx £350+
Porsche - approx £500+
Bentley - most likely £1k+

Porsche still charge £300 for a rear wiper - on a £100k+ car
The pano roof option on a £200k Ferrari is £12k, yet is standard on a high spec Citroen Picasso :p

Some niggles though. Auto wipers are crap. They either don't come at all in heavy drizzle, or they come on and stay on permanently even when the rain has completely stopped. Auto light is on and it doesn't seem to matter what I do with the sensitivity rocker switch.

Spotify App integration; might as well not be there. Whether the phone is connected to the car via BT or USB, there is about a 2s lag between any command, and even then it only stays live for about 3 songs before it semi disconnects. I say semi; music is still playing, but the spotify function is no longer available and I cannot skip tracks or manipulate the music in any way. I can skip to BT audio and the music picks up immediately, but BT audio is far more basic. Generally the audio isn't great either. I'd expect at least an EQ; being able to change only bass and treble is quite annoying, especially when my last car at least had a middle option, which is usually what needs adjusting the most. I know the speakers and dimensions are different, but I was actually worried at first that driver door speaker was faulty as it sounds like everything is shifted to the passenger side; I had to adjust the balance/fader quite a bit to make it sounds more centred to me.
.

I've had a ceramic coating put on my F30 and can't remember the last time I had to use the wipers in the rain, before that leaving the wipers on the lowest sensitivity usually did the job 90% of the time.

I experienced the same issue with a loan 4-series and Spotify, it would work for a while and then simply give up whilst BT audio worked perfectly fine as you say. I gave up after a while thinking it might have just been my phone. You only get an EQ with an upgraded audio system like the HK. Base audio is pants, at best.

Yup, it's aweful and I'm almost convinced that the right speaker isn't always working. It feels like my right ear is popped as the sound by default is so out of balance. Really disappointed in that aspect, I have to admit. Still though, the car is awesome otherwise.

Regarding ceramic coating, had the car been mine, I would spend the money to invest in it as I think it's very worthwhile doing to a new car for paint protection. However, it's only my car for two years so it's not worth spending £700 to do it. I might get the wheels done to assist in the cleaning them; the spokes on my 530e are quite tight so washing them is going to be tough.

Picked up some style-415 wheels on eBay to use as a winter set. Had them refurbished and fitted with Continental WinterContact TS850p (non-RFT) tyres. Bit late for this winter but will hopefully serve me well in winters to come!

Total cost including TPMS valves <£1000 so half the price BMW charge, and cheaper (better?) than X-drive!

Have to say the ride is a fair bit better compared to 19’s and runflats, especially over pothole-ridden roads.

NVP F11 ownership update... the ****?! :(

So got the car back last week from BMW, they repaired the whole back end after the crash and have replaced the bumper and tailgate all to a cost of 3.5k.

Drive home, next morning see the rear of my car has collapsed on the offside. Take it back to BMW who reset the code but advise the suspension does collapse on these so will need to book it in. They say it is not related to the accident or the repair.

What are your guys thoughts? It was a rear impact, and even if these parts go it must have been helped along by the impact. Should I chase the insurance?

Also, got my second flat tyre but had to replace both fronts as the other side had a huge bulge. And now the passenger door lock has stopped opening :(

So in short, after owning this car for literally a couple of months I've had:
2 rear collisions requiring insurance repair
3 tyre replacements
Oil level increase for no reason
Suspension collapse
Broken door lock
Damaged air vent facia
Centre wheel cap fallen away
And I'm sure I'm forgetting one other thing too

What the hell man :(

What's the fix?

I took it to Sytner the day it happened and they drained it and said to book back in for an oil change. Just said "sometimes it happens" and they recommend an oil change when if does.

It can happen if the car is doing very short trips but the service interval should drop automatically to accommodate this. You need to confirm how often it is doing a regen if it's well under 300 miles something is wrong, this information is available via diagnostic software. Normally it would be an issue causing the engine to generate more soot EGR valve, leaking injector, leak/hole in the boost pipes/intercooler etc. It could also be an issue with the sensors on the exhaust that detects the soot levels.

You should get the oil changed as the level is increasing due to diesel mixing with the oil.
