BMW and M Power Owners

Even if you put your key in a lead box? :D

Lol couldn’t be bothered with the hassle. I nearly bought a second hand M2 which had comfort access, i enquiried about getting it coded out...it’s keyless start anyway so pressing the button for the lock/unlock is no big deal to me.

True, I'd expect HK to be standard though, and seems to be unless everyone has specced it as an extra
The standard system in recent BMWs tends to amount to an asthmatic breathing through a straw. HK (in 3/5 series at least) makes it about average but I would hope the 7 series system is considerably better

Are the audio system in the various models that different ? My 3 has HK and I’d regard it as ok-ish dread to think what the standard system sounds like.

Turns out my misfire on the M5 is an Ignition Coil. Some clever detective work by the Cotswold Master Tech (the error doesn't specify the coil, only the cylinder that has the issue) and a complete recode later and we're off again...

So my 2011 F11 is due its first MOT since I've owned it shorty. The MOT is free at BMW and the car came with 12 months MOT protection. Can anyone walk me through MOT protection? Is it as simple as it sounds?

Am I crazy to consider an E46 M3 as a reliable daily?
If you did no work to it then yes probably :p
I imagine if the subframe was sorted, suspension refresh and a good service then it would be fine however the newest ones are now 12-13 years old and as such will have age related problems with the regular starter motors, water pumps and general consumable parts like that
The S54 is a reliable motor but the cars are now getting on

Just swapped my 318D for an older E65 745i here, it’s in the garage at the moment having the Valvetronic done but hopefully should have it back soon

I did look at financing a new one again but the older ones are such awesome value for money to buy the monthly saving should cover a lot of repair bills...

Found a low mileage, one owner one in top condition with a factory fitted AC Schnitzer kit and wheels and I think looks awesome even now.

Got a few things lined up, 90 degree stat, gearbox oil + sump, the “weephole” fix and water pump, perhaps a new set of plugs and coils...

Which aren’t the best but I’m going to try and get some better ones once I have the car back.

Still a handsome old bus I think and most of the AC Schnitzer stuff has aged quite well!

Yeah I'm wondering whether I should just do the same but with a 630i (bit newer and more suitable as a daily than an Mtree).

I'm not particularly fussed about low milage as long as it's been looked after.

It really is as simple as it sounds.

There are a few mileage based things to look out for at least with the N62 V8. Mine has full BMW SH and just needed the Valvetronic shafts done at 70k which is a specialist job and a big bill. Then there’s the valve stem seals, coolant transfer pipe, VANOS... all well into 4 figure bills and all likely to need doing at this stage. Not to mention the gearbox and cooling system etc etc!

Don’t really know much about the 3 litre ones though and I doubt the same issues apply. Unless I was doing big miles I wouldn’t be afraid of a manual M3 as a daily but either budget for the subframe or make sure it’s been sorted if it’s an E46.

The old E63s and E65s etc are ridiculous VFM at the moment in all forms but the V8 ones especially

On my f30 whenever I start the car up it sometimes randomly doesn’t detect the usb I have plugged in, a quick removal and plug back back in sorts that but it also doesn’t go back to the screen it was previously on, I normally have it at the track info which also shows the cover art but whenever I start the car it’s always starts one click back so I have to click the controller once.

Anybody have any ideas to fix this? I’ve checked all the settings. Car has had the latest software flashed to it back in feb and the nav/audio firmware was updated last year October.
