BMW and M Power Owners

OK so after much great input from you chaps, I have removed my reservation on that particular 335d. You are right, it's too much for the age and an LCI is where I should be looking to go with the money.

Fox what reg was the LCI 65? I didn't realise the 330d came in xDrive so I'll look at those to get better value.

First MOT coming up for the M135i - surely it makes sense to get it done at BMW due to MOT Protect?

Although the only things covered for free are warranty items, which are free anyway.

Blimey, the 335d 4.9 secs to 60, quicker than the 335i?

330

15 plate.

You should probably drive one to see whether you will like the standard M sport suspension... especially as your little one will be with you they might find it firm. The albeit few reviews I have watched/read mark the standard M sport susp as firm ("not drive as well as they should") and say that adaptive suspension is a must have option eg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajeCEr-SRac

Looks almost impossible to find on a 330d though let alone an xDrive :(

LCI is 65 plate I believe, yes.

Good move. I bought a very high spec 2016 340i (all 40i are LCI) privately for £25250. I sold it to trade for just under £25k, this was during Q1 of this year. A lot of folk turned their nose up at it because it didn't have 19s or tinted rear windows...

There were a lot of 17 plate 335d/340i cars about at the time for around 30k, pre reg and very low miles. I don't know what is out there at the moment but I'd go for M Sport Plus, Pro Nav and 335d. Any extra spec is a bonus, but as already covered the cars all have LEDs. I really don't think you need adaptive on the X Drive due to it's softer SE shocks (all X Drive have this setup, someone else mentioned it above). Harman speakers come with the M Sport Plus pack and you don't want a BMW with the standard audio, unless you want to find you're upgrading it all.

I had adaptive LED matrix lights on the 340i. They were a bit crap compared to the W212 E Class adaptive LED lights and the F10 adaptive LEDs that I have experience of. I wouldn't say they are worth hunting out.

I missed a digit off the link... https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201807028054950

I've dealt with Imperial Cars a couple of times in Southampton. Low pressure car supermarket place, happy to refund deposit (I put money down on a 435d just before deciding to buy the 340i). I'd have no qualms buying from them. Plus that 535d will have at least 9 months BMW warranty remaining.

The Sat Nav picture in fact shows it was down here (their prep centre is in Eastleigh).

That does look nice, do the F10s not come with M Sport brakes?

Sadly not, no. The F10 M Sport Plus package added privacy glass, 19 inch wheels and Harmon Kardon stereo on the touring.

Adaptive Cruise on the F10 is incredible - its very rare but very good. It has traffic jam assist which allows it to crawl along in traffic for you.

The motoring press is absolutely obsessed with adaptive suspension. You'll hear the same thing said about the 5 Series, OMG YOU NEED THE ADAPTIVE TO MAKE IT DRIVE PROPERLY. It's rubbish (The notion you NEED it, rather than the system itself) IMHO - especially hilarious in 520d reviews where they bang on about how it needs adaptive to drive like a 5 series should even though the 520d isn't available with the proper adaptive system anyway.

Yeah I see where you're coming from there... however that bloke mat tends to actually say whether you need the adaptive suspension setups or not (eg for the F10 5 series review he said that you don't actually need the adaptive dampers/drive for decent ride quality)

Had my 2011 F11 in for its first MOT in my ownership and it's passed with no issues at all. Came as a suprise as the last car I had MOT'd, a 3 year old A3 needed nearly £2000 worth of work doing to it according to Audi.

Got the 2011 maps updated to the latest version for £30 too which I can't complain at. The MOT was free so total spend of £30.

Superb service from Cooper Malton.

I'm looking at e63/4 6 series at the moment however it is quite a limited market and a few of the cars I've been looking at have the early I-Drive systems. My question then is how easy is it to upgrade from M-ASK to CCC (Pro Nav) systems and what are the costs/hurdles involved?

From what I have seen it is basic hardware swap and limited programming requirements all of which can be pretty much DIY'd. Am I missing something?
