Why would you want to upgrade to CCC? It's really very dated now - at a minimum you'd want to retrofit CIC but frankly I'd be going for NBT.
 
You could look at putting in a nexus 7 also as I have seem a couple of cars with the owners fitting these in - does limit you to touchscreen though
 
I wouldn't be against later upgrades to CIC or even NBT if practical really. So long as I had Nav and the larger screen I would be happy to take what i could get but I was under the impression some functionality maybe lost with going with the newer I-Drive systems and the natural upgrade seemed to be CCC or CIC. Looking at hardware the costs are little different in that regard so it would be coding issues that seem confusing with any upgrade to these systems.
 
Doesn't have sports auto transmission though, why wouldn't you pay the extra £100 or whatever it was when the original owner specced it up?

It would bother me in a petrol 4 series, but I doubt I would be needing to use the paddles on a daily basis in a large executive saloon with a ton of low range torque.
