BMW and M Power Owners

With any enthusiastic driving or overtaking I just put it in sports mode, the box is always in the right gear then even on the twisty roads holds the revs at a sensible level and won't drop into top gear quickly.

I've tried the paddles a few times but in sports plus the gearbox in manual mode shifts with a big jolt which gets annoying quickly, it can even unsettle the car changing gear in the high power RWD models no idea why it was mapped in that way. It feels like the torque converter is locked during the gear change rather than a little slip to smooth the change out. Doesn't do it in sports plus auto mode and the gear changes feel just as fast.

Had my 330d for a month now and have tried the paddles once, with a great auto box there is no need for them, maybe I’m lazy but I very rarely come out of auto.

Yeah it seems the common concensus is that nobody uses them.

Thanks for your advice everyone!

Paddles are the only way to shift down to force engine braking on hills now, right? How long will it actually stay in a gear at higher revs?

No, most have the ability to select ratios with the shifter. In fact, I can't think of a car that doesn't other than Jaguars but they all have paddles.

When driving in Europe, Do I need the beam deflector stickers on an e92 with adaptive headlights? I've read different answers and not sure whats correct.. Some say to turn lights from 'auto' to 'on' and it'll sort its self out, Others say a small white lever needs to be moved within the light compartment to change it from uk-eur, Others say stickers are a must (I will be driving at night)

Turn from "auto" to "on" and you're all good. The HID headlights all have a flat beam pattern, and by turning the lights from auto to on it disables the adaptive function thereby preventing glare to oncoming vehicles.

Hmm....

Pray tell, what do you consider “fast” ?
My car at the time was a 911 turbo, the cla was about 50hp down if I remember right. Very soft as well. I'm sure it's a nice car but it just felt slow. Fair enough if you think it's a ******** post but that was my opinion. Also I have no idea if my car had previously been remapped so it's possible it was higher than standard. Also 0-60 is not everything. This might be obvious but it had none of the theatre I was used to.
