BMW and M Power Owners

It was slippery yeah - A VX220 had an extremely narrow miss on the pit wall after losing it through woodcote and an E92 binned it at Copse. A TVR span out in front of me (you can just about see it in the video), plenty of MX5s going around too - one very nearly collected another car in the process. The relatively low temperatures didn't help either.

New calipers won't help with brake fade, certainly they're not the golden ticket to fixing it anyway. The heat is in the disc and pad and that is what needs dissipating. You could invest more time (and less money) getting some proper venting to the brakes (both disk and caliper for the pads)

Started mine for first time in 3 weeks. (Yeah I know).

Anyway flashed up that visual inspection service due 11/18. I’m booked in for recall on 12th nov and googling this service is just them having a look around I think ? Any experience of this, some dealers do it for free (probably looking for stuff to fix though )

The MOt is March so it’s not that.

Dealers will do a visual health check for free but this isn't the Vehicle Inspection idrive is telling you is due. That isn't free unfortunately.

May aswell combine it with the brake fluid service due in jan then. Or the oil change in may.

So what do we pay them for. Oddly they never mentioned it when I booked in for recall

BMW Starts Technical Campaign to Fix Faulty Diesel EGR Valves in the EU
Following some technical investigations, BMW started a voluntary technical campaign in the European market to fix faulty EGR valves on four-cylinder and six-cylinder diesel engines. According to the German manufacturer, the issue could lead to the cars affected catching on fire, in the most extreme cases. Therefore, the company will recall all possibly affected vehicles, to check the valve and then fix it, if necessary.

My car (F31 320d manufactured in early 2016) looks like it'll probably be impacted. Already had the EGR replaced last year under warranty but not sure if that fixes this problem. Booked in this week after a low coolant warning to investigate / check for leaks which can be a symptom of the issue above.

Update on this one — following a coolant level low warning I took mine in to the dealer and they’ve replaced the EGR cooler as part of this recall. Worth checking if you have the x20d engine manufactured between 2015-2016 (B47 I presume)

Possibly buying a brand new M4 Competition Pack...It's in the Ferrari Grey (Grigio Medio), looks so damn good. Just need to go back tomorrow and sign on the dotted line.

They have put together a seriously good deal, and I'm tempted to just go for it for the 2 years. C63 just isn't happening and I'm getting very bored of waiting and dealing with Mercedes dealerships as they all seem utterly hopeless unless they have a car on the forecourt which they never do in the spec/colour combo I want.

This has everything, every option I'd have gone for and the added bonus of a colour that is a £4k option in itself...

@Steedie FWIW I really like the grey.

A mate has just bought a nearly new M3 Comp in Mexico Blue (the Porsche colour) with a full set of carbon bits on. Now that is a thing of beauty!

Grey does appear to be the new white. I cannot get past the primer thing either :(

White = transit
Grey = primer
metallic grey is ok. its just that flat light colour thats triggering. same with white a flat white is a transit, but there are some really nice metallic white

Semi-acceptable on a Ferrari or something lairy. On a 4 series or an A4? I've seen all sorts in grey, Focus ST, Skoda Fabia, Kia... you name it.

Thoughts on this F10 530d in terms of spec and value based on the price (perhaps room for negotiation?)

In terms of warranty. It’s above the 60k threshold however my understanding is it comes with one years BMW warranty however when that comes to an end will I be offered the option to renew at a discount or will I have to take out a new policy? Any known figures as to what I should expect?

Seems relatively expensive to me, I bought a 2010 530D SE over 4 years ago for 18.5k with the same spec plus HUD. So a couple of years younger when I purchased.

Approved used with the warranty is a big plus though. Mine was just a local chap.

I don't think you can renew the approved used warranty at the end. You'd have to take up the insured warranty at that point.

You used to be able to get them to chuck in a second year of approved used warranty, Fox will be along to give you some more reliable info.

As the AUC warranty nears its end they will write to you offering the insured warranty at a discount compared to a non AUC buyer taking one out, how much of a discount I don’t know tbh - this is what Stratstone BMW told us when we enquired about extending the warranty after the AUC one had expired on a 1 Series.

You’ll still pay a higher premium if the car is north of 60k miles, to be honest if warranty is a consideration then I’d look to buy a car that’ll still be below 60k once you come to extend it.

To be fair that was an SE, they are significantly less desireable and prices reflect that.

16k seems pricey but when you consider it's an AUC M Sport it isn't so bad.
