BMW and M Power Owners

Would a diesel engine be pointless for an 11 mile commute on A and B roads? I've been thinking about buying a new car for far too long and did plan on a 535d but now my commute has been cut down quite a lot I don't think the engine would even be warmed up properly by the time I get to work.

What else will you use the car for?

Local shopping trips, occasional trips up the motorway at 50 miles each way, some business travel, annual euro Disney trip.

My commute is about 10 miles a day and I've run F10 530ds for nearly 5 years now. No issues at all. They are not fuel efficient on short trips but they make up for it on regular long trips

My old one was about 14 miles each way and the 640d was just getting up to oil temp by that time, plus daaaarn saaarf where you are you've got a 5 degree headstart on me at the worst of times!

Thanks. At the moment it's either a 53xd, a 535i if I can find one or a Lexus Rx450h but not sure I'll ever get on with the rubbish interior.

It's a really good blast from home to work, which is annoying as most of its in the first 10 mins.

The black one, from behind in the particular photo looks proper ugly IMO, but the back of the red one (from that angle) looks much nicer. I know they are identical bar the colour, but it’s somthing in the proportions that just doesn’t look right to me.

What Red one?

It's Orange, Sakhir Orange (if the naming convention follows the F10, F12/F13 models)

From the time between the E46 and F13 I've always said the F13 is the nicest looking car BMW have done in a long time, now we got the new 8 Series and that has taken the new crown of the most stunning car BMW have done in a long time shame they haven't put the V12 from the 7 series in it though, guess a V8 will have to do

It's so boring inside though.

I appreciate the BMW cockpits are well laid out and the iDrive system is one of the best but it doesn't look massively different from a 2 series!

This. It just doesn't seem all that different or exciting inside. It's just going to feel like driving a more expensive 6 series, which I suppose it is. It just looks a bit dull.

What were you guys expecting the interior of the BMW 8 to be, the inside of a Zonda? It is just another BMW, so it will have yet another BMW interior - as with most brands the quality and luxury vary as you go up the range and this is a the top end of that but it is a BMW and has a BMW interior - an extremely nice one actually.

Is it £75k nice though?
