BMW and M Power Owners

A friend has been looking at the LCI F20 125i, and sent this one over to me for my thoughts. Aside from the obvious fact of spending that much on a 1 series and the spec being pretty basic, I've never seen a 125i before with a single pipe outlet exhaust. Every other Pre LCI and LCI I've seen has the twin pipe outlet on one side. Any ideas BMW gurus?

its not that basic in the grand scheme of things - I’ve seen far worse tbh - as for the rear pipe, I’ve seen a few like that and assumed it was just how they were.

Does your friend particularly need / want nearly new & low miles? - if he’s willing to compromise on age especially his budget opens up a whole host of possibilities.

Yeah the requirement is pretty much 1 year old or so and low mileage. I've seen a few older 120i, and newer 118i etc. with the single pipe, but not any 125i. The 125i doesn't seem overly common anyway.

Trying to get him to consider a new-ish F30 LCI for this sort of money. The F30 is hardly a BMW high point but I'd rather have a 3 than a 1 spending 20k+.

Literally the next cars in your search results are M140i's around the same price. No brainers compared to this awful car.

Partly full?

Just sayin :D

Tough crowd :p

Managed to locate the original purchase receipt in the hand over pack;

- Professional Media (Pro Nav + Harman Kardon)
- M Sport Plus Pack
- Head-Up Display
- Enhanced Bluetooth
- Adaptive Cruise Control w/ Stop & Go Function
- Heated Seats
- Electric Seat w/ Driver Memory
- Electric Folding Mirrors w/ Anti-Dazzle
- Electric Sunroof
- High Gloss Black Interior Trim
- Brushed Aluminium Trim
- Reversing Camera
- Adaptive M Sport Suspension

I feel like the car is a huge upgrade over my GTI with regards to power, quality and extras. Haven't stopped grinning.

The only very minor point that my inner perfectionist has an issue with is that the passenger front rim has some slight clouding on the mirrored face.

Anything I need to look out for/keep an eye on?

Yes, those wheels are notorious for water getting under the lacquer and producing that 'milky' colour. In other words its been damaged at some point.

I've had this with diamond cut rims before, nightmare.

I'll probably price up a full refurb for next summer, not much point doing it now/in the winter months.

To be fair that's an absolutely brilliant spec.

For some reason the M badge next to 850i really bothers me, would look so much better as just 850i like the previous generation. Love everything else though.

Would a diesel engine be pointless for an 11 mile commute on A and B roads? I've been thinking about buying a new car for far too long and did plan on a 535d but now my commute has been cut down quite a lot I don't think the engine would even be warmed up properly by the time I get to work.
