On my '13 E92 I'm getting a slight squeak/creaking noise when turning the wheel at low speeds like when parking up.. it doesn't happen / isn't audible above 5mph (Have to have stereo muted to actually hear it below 5mph)
The PS fluid looks ok to me, It was changed about 18 months ago.

Any ideas before I book it in for diagnostics?

Don't mute the stereo? :p

You know I don't think in 2 years I've ever really played back footage other than when I drove my old civic into a lake.

I’ve purchased something basic with no WiFi, Bluetooth, announcements etc. It will be there as a just in case should the need arise. I’ve no desire to pull the card out and review on a daily or any other basis.

Why does that mean you needed some sort of video surveillance system in your car?

Simply because the levels of idiot-ness, selfish-ness and unwillingness to take and own up to responsibility for their actions is nose diving and I view it as way to add some protection.

A few years ago my wife got side swiped whilst in stationary traffic, even though the other driver fessed up, the claim when submitted claimed my wife was on the other side of the road. Claim went 50-50 in the end, a cam would have shown exactly what happened.

Once I’ve tested this cam to ensure it does it’s job silently I’ll be getting one for the wife’s car.

I’ll also be heading to Portsmouth in the hope that I record you on the roads. :D

Just for Fox, my son got stopped today for according to the police, driving aggressively and undertaking. Also claimed that he was flashing a cyclist to get out of his way. Son told them they must be mistaken and as he has front and rear dash cams they are welcome to review. Showed the clips and it turns out the car behind him was flashing, no idea why.

Changed their tune and said they must have been mistaken but without the cams it really would have been their word against his and we all know who are regarded as infallible and never makes mistakes?

Oh no, that must be awful. However will you cope without gathering 4k footage of total strangers going about their daily business.

You really hate dashcams xD

I reckon you've been stung by a dashcan during a Fox road rage, Can imagine Fox hanging out the window of his 5 Series "I'll have you you little rapscallion"

swiped - that's the only type of accident I've incurred in last 10 years, I'm yet to be convinced dashcams would accurately capture adjacent/near road positioning issues ..

I suppose given the wide angle lens this might not be 100% clear but it show the travel of the car leading up to being swiped and the path of the car that swiped? Might be enough or might lead to a quicker 50/50 :D

After they changed the High Pressure Fuel Pump, my Z4 went back in again last night as it kept doing the same thing. They phoned this morning saying they did a 'start test plan' and finally, for the first time in the 5 weeks total they've had the car, got an error code about injector misfire. They've ordered new injectors which should arrive Monday. This seems to match with my suspicions about either a faulty resulting in fuel mixture not rich enough when starting or mistiming of something in the engine due to starting vibrations.

Hopefully this will sort it!

Funny you mention this. In the M5, I had an issue whereby it would stutter under hard acceleration, like someone had jammed the brake on for a split second, and at worst, it would force the car into LHM, only to clear upon the next engine start. A few times back and forwards, and various bits changed, even when the car was driven there in LHM with the EML on they couldn't find a fault. Swapped injectors, etc to no avail. Finally, it was found to be a faulty coil pack. The problem was when the car was hot, they couldn't get near parts to swap them out. When it was cold again and they fired it up, the issue wasn't present. Once the coil pack was swapped out, the car never missed another beat.

Mine is fine once it starts, smooth acceleration etc, although two days ago on a roundabout, when I attempted to accelerate from stationary there was a 1 second delay and then a kick, as if the gearbox slammed the gear in after some input lag. Last time it was in, there was a small leak around the gearbox, which they cleaned and said to monitor the car every 1000 miles. Hopefully it’s nothing serious, and also related to the engine issue.
at least i got a new battery, wiring and high pressure fuel pump for free! :p
If it wasn't in warranty I’d probably be crying in the corner from the bills! I do hope this is the issue, as if this carries on much longer it will eventually put me offwhat is a fantastic car.

I popped into my local BMW dealer to ask when they would have a 340i touring demonstrator. Whilst there we talked about a F80 M3 which I find very tempting but think I'd prefer a newer model (I've got a F31 currently). The sales dude got talking about the X3M Comp and how the PCP monthly difference between the 340i and X3M wouldn't be that much. Not really considered a SUV but I have seen one in the wild and it is tempting.

Anyone have any experience of these? I'm fairly sold on the 340i but would like to at least consider the X3M. For some reason I can't quite see myself in the F80.

The X3M and 340i would be completely different. You should test drive both for sure. I've driven the X3 (non-m) and its really nice to cruise around in but I imagine the 340i will handle better.

This isn't the first time I've seen the X3M being pushed with cheap deals. There may be a reason for this and they're not selling many.
