BMW and M Power Owners

I edited - any charges. My point is still completely valid, yet you continue to dodge questions.

You've not asked any pertinent questions. I mean heck, you couldn't even get the correct crime. As someone who has already confessed, and successfully demonstrated they don't have the slightest clue, do you know what the threshold for prosecution of careless driving is?

The driver hit a stationary vehicle, seemingly with no other party involved. Is that a sign of competent observation and driving skill?

Can you show how a court would prove that the driver was "allowing the standard of driving to fall below that of a competent and careful driver", when all the driver has to do is simply go no comment (as any good solicitor will tell you to do) and then say in court a child ran out he swerved to avoid, or an oncoming driver was at fault who left scene.

I think your crying that the police should surely act speaks on your lack of experience breaking the law and the police in general. Please don't do that and listen to the posters who don't feel the need to dry snitch to teacher.

Edit: I'm sorry if that comes across as harsh, I just hate people who run to the police for everything and anything, especially as when it'll do no one any good, improve society, or even could be you or I should we make a simple mistake one day.

A court doesn't have to prove anything, surely you should know that?
There would have to be reasonable suspicion that an offence had been committed for charges to be levelled. That would be from the fact that an impact has occurred with a stationary object at what would appear to be reasonable speed.
That would allow the police to do some very simple evidence gathering. Were there witnesses? Is there cctv or dashcam footage? Does the driver simply confess to screwing up big style?
I mean it does improve society because it might be a person they hit next time. Not a car.

A van hit my car yesterday whilst it was parked up :(

It's at Sytner BMW now and they quoted £25,500 to repair it! it's now a total write off, I think the rear axel must've been heavily damaged, it got shunted about 6 foot up the kerb and damaged 3 wheels plus the front splitter aswell.

Bloody hell, isn’t this the 3rd time in a year? :(

It’s either poor luck or you park like an ass :p

Hope you manage to get this sorted :)

I'm not clued up on M2 spec but it appears decent. I take it you're after a sunroof? Edit, is it missing CarPlay? Not sure if that option came on the Comp but don't see why it wouldn't have been available on the OG.

I have an android phone anyway so not too bothered... I believe you can get this coded retrospectively as well. Might be worth buying an old iphone in the future for it I guess

Yes, it can be coded. I did that on my M140i which uses the same EVO unit I believe.

However coding is now flagged straight away in ISTA whenever the dealer plugs the car in, and they may use that as an excuse to invalidate electronics warranty (both AUC and Insured).

tbh I'd just get an MMI box with android auto rather than coding carplay if you don't even use an iPhone! (I coded it and it wasn't worth it with having to remove it every time it went to the dealer etc)

Interesting, how does this work?

It’s a box which sits between iDrive and your display.

It “hijacks” the control and display signals, providing you with CarPlay/Android Auto.

If coding CarPlay voids your warranty, a box definitely would (if they found it). My local BMW will happily code CarPlay for a price anyway :-)

If you do get a box, get a Mr12Volt system, as it uses the MOST (optical fibre) system for digital audio rather than using the aux, which others tend to do.

Bmw warranty - is there a max age for the car until they will refuse to warrant it?
I'd be going straight from approved used warranty to extending it

Not AFAIK. As long as you either keep it under 100k miles of you pay yearly or keep up the monthly payments. Happy to be corrected though.

OK, car is currently on 34k, so I'll probably do an annual payment for the year after, then monthly from then on in case I hit the magic 60k!

are they keeping the software on these current with the 2023/lastest tiled android auto updates ?
at £300+ pounds - the MOST interface still leaves the bottleneck of sending audio through the android phones audio mixer, before it get transmitter wirelessly
versus a dac/amp (eg. recently discussed match up 7 bmw system discussed in what I did to my car)
with which you can send perfect bitstream from your phone, or ....... just put the media on a usb thumb drive directly into HU

[ the mr12volt web site is confusing/wrong
Additional Technical Data:
Operating Temperature: -20 - +80 degree centigrade
DAC resolution: 18Bit
why is a dac needed if the system has digital audio/MOST throughput
