BMW and M Power Owners

Shall I buy???!
The panel gap between offside driver and rear door looks massive. Not sure if that’s a GC thing.

Personally not a fan of white or shades of white but that’s your personal choice.

Yea, I did spot that, definitely pronounced as it's a white car.

I've done a check and no sign of damage or salvage.

I really want a blue version, but none have the array of options this white one does

That looks lovely, they really suit white IMO and it does have a lot of options as well. If you search ‘I’ve gone Bavarian’ you should find my 428i GC thread.

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/ive-gone-bavarian-2015-428i-gran-coupe.18933137/ found it.

Just put the deposit down on it. They are doing a proper ceramic coat for me.
I'll be collecting it next week.

Looks loads better in the video.
Looks mega! Congrats man.

Coming to the end of the approved used warranty on my 2019 M850i in July. Does anyone have any advice about what I could do to make sure I discover any issues that might currently be developing and get them taken care of before it expires? Or common issues I should get checked out explicitly?

Things I am doing/thinking of doing:
  • Recently had a low starter battery notification in BMW app - booked in with BMW to get this looked at
  • Will ask them to update iDrive at same time as above (never got the OTA updates to work)
  • Will ask them to do an end of warranty inspection - probably fairly useless apart from reading codes?
  • Get an MOT - warranty should cover anything that comes up before it expires
  • There are a couple of supposedly good BMW indies around here (Manchester area) - book it into one of those and ask them to inspect?
Grateful for any advice.

Those seems all sensible suggestions. I'm sure the Extended warranty will be £1k+ on one of those?

It's £2.6k :) Going to be putting something aside every month instead. It's a bit of a gamble so want to reduce the risk as much as I can by making sure all good before the AUC warranty expires.

Holy Moley!

Mad thing is most of what's in it is likely used in other BMW models that don't carry such an extortionate cost!

Yep, it's an unjustifiable 8 series premium IMO. I was aware of it going into the purchase but the reality of running without a high quality warranty is a little anxiety inducing!

It's really annoying, I wanted an 840i but don't want to run one without a warranty and £2600 for a car that's not mechanically much different to the rest of the range was not something I was prepared to pay :(

Look out for my future thread on how to persuade BMW to give goodwill on an engine failure or something.
On the plus side not being mechanically different has some positives - components are (hopefully) pretty mature by now like the 3rd revision of the N63.

Holy moly. It's crazy how they price things, I think my M3 is pretty much the same as any Fx generation 3/4 series, yet the engine, gearbox, diff, suspension etc are all vastly more expensive to replace.

The M cars are more expensive than the regular cars, but not by an unreasonable amount.

I thought £2.6k was the base rate - so if you factor in the renewal discount (you get a code in the post) and have max excess with no roadside cover, it may be quite a bit less. I know that isn't ideal but it at least means if anything expensive breaks, you'll be fully covered.

I'll have to extend it on my 7 Series in a couple of months, so I'm likely going to do the above. I probably wouldn't bother but it does cover all of the air suspension system, as well as everything else, which on balance is probably just about worth it.

The BMW warranty prices are just silly for the higher end cars, but on the plus side, it is absolutely comprehensive up to 100k miles.
