BMW and M Power Owners

Grrrr , the responses should have been....

Don't bother with that because of X, and it's missing Y, it's over priced and it would look so much better with black alloys and grill

It's a 2021 M340i in Portimao Blue with Comfort, Technology and Visibility packages. Took ages to find - I've been looking since about January - but it's so difficult to find them with options packs but without the pack that adds the black wheels etc :D

I've wanted one for a while now - kept the 530d a bit longer than I expected in the end, but after 7 years (9 if you count the very similar 530d I had before it!) it was time for something new. The 530d was great, it was also surprisingly reliable - not a single thing went wrong with it (other than a battery in the first year or so) in 7 years of ownership. A fantastic car.

Perhaps the biggest surprise with the M340i so far is that I am averaging almost the same fuel economy as I did with the 530d :D
nice! pics?

Cars in for an small oil in a few weeks, £220ish which seems a bit. Hopefully they can reset the service history on the iDrive.... Took it to a local 'BMW specialist' for my brakes (discs / pads) and the brake fluid and when they did it they added it onto the idrive but it's removed the previous history. Up until then it was all main dealer so never had any paper work for it. its on 55k miles and 10 years old so not sure what the future bills will be but i think i'll just stick with BMW doing it. Seems simpler.

Went to the gym today, left my keys in the car and locked it with my phone as I do quite frequently. Get out the gym and it won't unlock. Ring BMW assistance and they offered to get me a taxi to get the spare key or get roadside assistance to break in to the car. Luckily we had the back door key in the key safe (wouldn't usually be) or I'd be screwed. They hadn't sorted a taxi in over 30 minutes so ended up getting the inlaws to pick me up. Not impressed!

Edit
Unlocked with the phone as soon as i got back to it....

M340i(M3) MHT owners - so what settings are you using for the (apparently) default adaptive suspension they have, on our UK roads - are you now converted to adaptive

Guess would be interference from something.

I just leave it in Comfort all the time. I also changed all 4 tyres for Michelin Pilot Sport 4S as soon as I got the car. With this setup, the ride quality is fine.

Of course. Not sure entirely how the tech works but I assume the car receives a signal via modem, data signals can be blocked.
Via the sim card and data network I presume but it I was trying to unlock it for over 30 minutes, what could have caused that.

Strong signal nearby. Network fault. Something nearby intentionally scrambling (we use these in certain areas at work for security purposes).

thanks - confirms my theory for next purchase of either M with adaptive(comfort) or non-M for future purchase

------

phone key signal is via NFC from the phone, like contactless payment, so not using modem, which wouldn't work in a no/poor signal zone (like where I live,
If three and vodaphone combine should improve home reception.)
it's not legal to use mobile frequency jamming/scrambling capabilities other than in very specific building boundaries.
