Gorgeous...

Nice, interior pics please.
Sure, excuse the lint, this was clean just a few days ago. I can see this touch screen and gloss black trim becoming my nemisis. :)

She had her first wash today just so I could lay down some basic form of protection. So I used a ceramic based shampoo and then a quick aqua coat over the top. Too hot for a proper wax. Love the metallic paint in the sun.

I like the satin touches with the gloss black too.

Wheels washed and tyres coated. They could do with coming off and being done properly inside and out to be fair.

Thanks.

Lovely, you've the same interior and wheels as mine. The recommended tyre pressures tend to be too high and can cause uneven tyre wear. I set mine to about 37psi front and 33 rear...

Thanks! I did read the pressures and think blimey that's a lot. I don't understand how manufacturers come to these figures, my Mustang with a big 'ol V8 lump up front was only 33psi all round. Yet this 2 series is over 40psi in the front. I need the heat to come down a bit as everytime I go to check the tyres are too hot to accurately set a pressure.

No problem, yes far too hot at the moment, the idrive does show the current pressures, as well as the connected app. However if you've set them to psi the app only shows them as bar.

My MINI which is a relatively light car suggests 46F and 44R psi. Which is frankly too high for my liking.

I guess that results in max economy.

Are you sure? This is much higher than the door sticker in our Mini for a 17inch wheel. I didn't think the Mini did pressure recommendations through iDrive so presumably you mean what is printed on the door sticker.

My M340i, however, recommends a pressure in iDrive and it's really quite high.

Door sticker. This is off the net and sounds right but I'll double check later...

Any i4 owners on? Need to push the button and too busy to get a test drive. Got a temp Q4 eTron which is the usual suv nightmare for me. Had M3's and 3 litre diesels in the past ... but this time has to be a full EV.
Any thoughts appreciated

Probably an economy thing - new way of making the figures look better than they are.

You could say, they’re artificially inflating them

Is anybody Newcastle based who knows a trusted non main dealer to replace the gasket on my 3.0l Z4?

I've got a minor leak that sometimes drops oil on the down pipe and CAT and smokes like something's terminal but, according to the BMW specialist near my parents house when I was visiting this weekend, it's a common fault on those engines and I'll be fine, the oil levels are still max on the computer and he gave me a bit of oil to top up if needed.

Hi there, can't help with the suggestion of a BMW indy near you but yes - this is indeed a common issue on the Z4, is it an E85/86 by any chance? Very common, the leak generally manifests itself at the rear left side of the valve cover which as you say will then drip down onto the exhaust and CAT and then burns off when the car starts to warm up. It can be done yourself if you are confident enough to tackle it and there are a number of YouTube videos which show how. I had my E85 Z4 valve cover gasket replaced recently by my local BMW indy and it was fairly reasonable cost wise so I just let them get on with it when it was in for its Inspection 2, saved me the hassle!!! :D

E89 I believe, '59 plate.

But yes, I occasionally smelt a little bit of something after a spirited drive but didn't think too much of it.

It was only when I went to a pub with a ridiculous slope on the way in that it got a bit silly. It must have tipped the oil that had collected in nooks and crannys of the engine casing out when I hit the slope. Turned up to meet my folks in the beer garden with all their mates, top down and smoke pouring out the engine bay, it's a great look...
