BMW and M Power Owners

Wow. How was the new unit chassis matched?

You should have just paid for the exhaust and walked away.

The MPPSK tune can be done for very little.
The kit came with a heavy discount.
The exhaust alone including fitting would have been just £100 less.

Bm3 is £550 so in effect I've only paid £600 extra... in which I get a correct ATM unit, the proper Map, the BMW warranty intact, and the MyBMW app to function.
Not too bad.

I plan to keep this far for at least 6 years, I want it to be reliable.

The exhaust isn't sold for RRP. It would also have come with a heavy discount. Go ask them separately how much they would sell you the exhaust for.

Was it an incorrect ATM or BMW just had to flash it to "correct" the chassis number associated with it. I can't see them having off the shelf units already coded with your chassis number.

Also now they have on record the car was previously modified, especially ECU modules, I'd be interested in seeing if your warranty is actually in tact. Would they pay out for a new engine now that they know someone messed around with the ECU?

Anyone seeing a sharp uplift in dealer service pricing recently? An oil service with all the filters on my 5 series is now £571, vehicle check is £126. Even the oil change and microfilter is £358. Paid just over £200 for the latter at the beginning of the year.
Yep, my local dealership (Sytners) quoted £324 for an oil & filter change. Rybrook quote is £224

This will fix your GPS problem?

The clown who sold you that car needs a really bad review tbh.

I did ask them. It was £100 less. As the entire kit was heavily reduced from 2200 to 1800.

The ATM that came with the car was water damaged. And died.
The new one I installed was from an X5. Coded to the car by a chap over on Facebook.

The new unit is coded at suppliers in Germany. To match the car chassis. Because it has an eSim inside that MUST be associated with the car. So that the Connected Drive features work.

This car hasn't had an ECU change... the ATM is the telecommunications module in the roof.

the kit has been "discounted" for years. it's in effect...the normal price, as it does not fit any other b58 engine except the OG B58 engines.
mid-2018 BMW switched to the B58TU, hence why the MPPSK cannot be fitted to all 40i cars
they're in effect just clearing old stock
iirc, i paid £1400-1500 for my MPPSK

Any thoughts on this spec gents?

Basically identical to fox's iirc just a plate older. Only stuff it's missing is electric seats and the self driving/radar cruise stuff. But realistically you won't get them all together unless you find a unicorn.

This is one of the major reasons I went for an m550, easier to get a higher spec! For me the memory seats needing the top comfort pack is absolutely bonkers when my f36 and e92 had them as standard, and I wouldn't accept manual seats now.

The exhaust is less than a grand, if you look hard enough BMW dealers will supply it for less than £900 (chrome tailpipes). A large part of the discounting is the fact the exhaust has been reduced loads. This is a 340i or 440i right?

I never said there was an ECU change. Modules associated with it have been messed around with and you said some coding was done? Does that not involve the ECU? Anyway, for your sake I hope you never have to use the warranty, or if you do, you don't get someone who is very pedantic (like for this MPPSK install).

Up for debate atm. Don't know whether to keep and get rid of the ranger or get rid as I'm not really using it and our first offspring has just arrived.

A ranger is easily replaceable, your Bullet very much less so. I went through a bit of a transition after our first was born - I got rid of my Cayman as it wasn’t ‘practical’. Looking back, I probably could’ve kept it as we already had a family car and that took the brunt of kiddy related transport initially. After a while things settled down and I found myself back in my own car on my own for much of the time.

You're making pretty good points tbh. At the minute owning anything special feels a bit pointless as I'm just not facing the opportunity to drive it, that was even before the little one rocked up. However whenever I get in it and hear the engine fire up its great fun!

What excess do people tend to go for on the insured warranty? Up for renewal this month, did £250 last year but only claimed once. Torn between £100 and £250...
What's the price difference? Can you cover anything that costs less than £250 easily/right away? Anything major will easily cost more than £250 I'd say unless it's basic stuff like trim. And if you claim more than once it's £250 a time.

£86p/m at £100 or £69 at £250. Multiple claims in a year at £250 would get rather annoying I think so leaning towards the lower excess, but as you say most major stuff is probably going to be over £250.

Just don’t rush the decision if you can help it. Going for a drive in a V8 has been my salvation through periods of sleepless nights and other child related ‘phases’ ;)
