BMW and M Power Owners

You're making pretty good points tbh. At the minute owning anything special feels a bit pointless as I'm just not facing the opportunity to drive it, that was even before the little one rocked up. However whenever I get in it and hear the engine fire up its great fun!
Congrats on breading. FWIW mine is now 3 and I am looking to swap the E43 for a Bullit or something similar. The period of tonnes of crap dies off so quickly (in hindsight). She now won't even let me put her in the chair, so access is irrelevant - she jumps in and sorts "on her ownself".

Edit: also, she loves "TURBO!!!11"

please just drive safely and don't do anything reckless :/

(trauma intensive care...seen a fair few of these)

Sorry that’s rather gone over my head

I’m basically saying the car has been a great instrument for getting kids to sleep as well as giving me an outlet when things have been tense indoors. Not sure where reckless comes into it, that’s been over and done (as far as car related) for many years now.

oh phew :)

what i meant was i've seen a fair few that have gone out in their whatever cars to "escape for a few" and ended up in a real nasty way

Yours and @naefeart 's comments are definitely making me have a ponder. Our other car is a diesel estate so sensible is covered...hmm.

The exhaust is less than a grand, if you look hard enough BMW dealers will supply it for less than £900 (chrome tailpipes). A large part of the discounting is the fact the exhaust has been reduced loads. This is a 340i or 440i right?

I never said there was an ECU change. Modules associated with it have been messed around with and you said some coding was done? Does that not involve the ECU? Anyway, for your sake I hope you never have to use the warranty, or if you do, you don't get someone who is very pedantic (like for this MPPSK install).
No, does not include the ecu.
Coding the ATM to work in the car only involved the NBT Evo and the ATM module.

They were not pedantic. The software package they used flagged an error due to a miss match value on the ATM module. So it refused to finish the task. Totally plausible and easy to rectify.. with the correct ATM replacement.

The exhaust is not less than a grand.
The prices have increased quite a bit in the past couple years. But, you don't need to believe me as I'm sure you won't.

You bought a car from a dealer and couldn't care less than it needed £1k spending to fix something?

Why didn't they pay?
Sigh, Mr fox, I'm unsure why this matters?

The GPS not working was an advertised issue.
The car had apple play so was a non issue.
They paid out to get me an android auto box installed.

I however, fancied fixing the GPS issue. So installed a super cheap ATM unit. Which worked for the purpose of fixing the GPS issue. Happy days.

I didn't perseve that the ATM unit would stop an ECU from being flashed at BMW (or having any updates at all done)... so this leads me to having to buy a new ATM that will match the car. As I would very much like bmw to apply updates and also get the MPPSK map done.

Do you now see, why this is a non issue and not for the dealer to deal with?

I believe he’s previously mentioned that he got the car at a discounted rate due to the fact it wasn’t working

I’m probably flogging a dead horse, but with all this talk of tech I’m not familiar with, why wouldn’t a reputable dealer not just get this fixed before sale?

Is the car under warranty, and if so why not just demand it was fixed before purchase?

Because it's expensive to fix and there are people who will buy it anyway knowing it's not working.

It sounds like they looked into it already, as they’d removed the module (I think I remember OP saying they had to send it to him).

Regardless though - it’s none of my business. If OP wanted that particular car, and was happy to pay to have it fixed, then great.

Getting the dealer to do anything about it can be, and often is, hassle and sometimes it’s easier to just move on with new experiences - whether good or bad ones.

The cavalry have arrived!!

I don't think any hindsight is required to avoid a car this new with a fault the dealer isn't prepared to fix before sale.
Correct; which is why he bought the car having "done a deal" with the dealer to offset the cost of repair and save a journey. The fact it would cause an issue fitting an exhaust isn't "obvious" at all.
