BMW and M Power Owners

possibly an MPerformance styling kit added

To make it look like a 2 litre diesel?

It looks like a nice car as it is - nice specification* and hasn't yet been made to look awful. I'd keep it that way...

*I took your word for it, looks like it's nothing like as high spec as you said it was :D

Back to sensible budgets (<£30k) and wanting reasonable running costs for my puny 2.5K Miles/year..

This Mineral Grey 440i with pretty much everyone conceivable option has just had it's price reduced to £26750

I've mentioned it before, but probably got lost in the noise, but the only downside I can see is it has Adaptive Suspension (since it has HUD/Surround View/Adaptive LED and most desirable options, that was inevitable)..
It would need the MPPSK, some nicer wheels and possibly an MPerformance styling kit added (or partially added) to make it look less frumpy?

Thoughts?

"every conceivable option" is definitely an overstatement:

1) it doesn't even have harmon kardon (and the base stereo is terrible), or the larger brakes that most 440is have. This would be remedied it it had the pro pack, which came with harmon kardon, better wheels, and the 370mm brakes)
2) It doesnt have have adaptive cruise etc
3) it doesn't have true adaptive lights, it has the basic ones. You need the icon ones for it to do anything useful, ie the beam splitting etc. they look like this:

Basically the only bits of decent spec on that are the surround view, HUD and the digital dash.

That's why I love this place.. on initial glancing, seeing the innovation pack, digital cockpit, hud, surround view, (basic) LED headlights, etc that looked way more spec'd than most.. but in reality.. missing loads!

Thanks!

Hi all, some warranty advice required please...
My M2's harmon kardon amp has failed due to a water ingress design flaw in the car where the HK amp gets wet through an air vent. I have had the car 2 months.

I booked it into the local dealer to have this changed under AUC warranty, they rang me yesterday and said the AUC warranty does not cover this failure as it does not cover "water ingress".
The dealer has applied to BMW for goodwill claim. BMW are aware of this water ingress issue, as they replaced the amps previously on all cars with a "service update" amp with a plastic shield to stop water ingress. My car had this fitted already, but still failed..

1) I cannot see anywhere on AUC warranty T&Cs that water ingress is not covered
2) If the goodwill claim is not accepted, what do I do? Surely a 2 month old AUC BMW shouldn't have failures like this forcing me to pay out of my pocket?

The car has gone to a different BMW dealer that didn't supply the car, but that shouldn't make a difference...

That does sound poor. Ask them to state where the warranty says water ingress isn't covered? Surely it depends on the exact circumstances too.

I would hope BMW approve the claim under goodwill.

I would think so, especially for an issue where BMW know it's a very common problem!!

may depend on whether ingress occurs because drains are blocked - older bmw had potential for water ingress to emu , via scuttle panels, so
you were supposed to check rubber evacuation tubes between engine and bulkhead weren't blocked with debris - needed to be a contortionist,
think I used reasonably rigid mains cable to poke them

It's just direct from the air vent to the HK amp, will try to find a picture, no drains to block up

Assume it won't make a difference to AUC warranty or BMW goodwill, but regardless of either of those surely you have a consumer rights claim against the dealer who sold you the car for selling it to you with this problem?

I would probably go down that route as the logical next step... Hopefully bmw and the dealer come through. Still not heard anything

Just had a reply

Hi Shiv,

I have had a response from Goodwill and they are saying your approved used policy should cover it. I am sorting out the admin side of things and in the meantime I have ordered your amplifier. It should have arrived for this afternoon.

I am just finalising clarification for invoicing and either way I should hope your vehicle will be ready for collection around 5pm today.

Kindest regards,

"good" result I think. Although I should never have had all this hoo haa in the first plave

That's good news otherwise it could be an expensive issue. Unfortunately BMW are a little hit & miss in my opinion

I think that's the biggest issue. If the service manager is there to help their customers you will be okay. If they want to fill their pockets then you have issues

Snap!

xpost from "show us your motors", but thought not everyone ventures in there and more relevant here perhaps.

A few weeks ago I had https://www.unique-detail.co.uk undertake a 3 stage paint correction, and apply Titan Vulcan TX155 (which from my research is the best ceramic coating on the market). This was half paid for by the supplying dealer, as the paint work was not what it should be.....

The results are absolutely remarkable - not only have 98% of the blemishes gone to all but the most critical eye (ie with a torch), but the overall look of the car and the way the amazing "Aventurinrot II" (Aventurin Red II) individual colour pops, is remarkable. Oh, and it stays cleaner and is much easier to clean once it is dirty. All in all, incredible job!

That looks fantastic @rG-tom. I was torn between Aventurine Red and Tanzanite Blue for my M550i. Went with the latter as I thought the contrast with the red calipers looked better than Aventurine+blue calipers. I didn't think Tanzanitte+blue or Aventurine+red would look right because the calipers are different to the body paint work, now not so sure it would have been a problem. Also just realised I forgot to add laser lights. Probably more cosmetic difference when they're off. The adaptive LEDs I have on my 540i are great and I can count on two hands the times I've used high beam in the last four years so should be fine.

Either way too late now, picking up the car on Monday, taking it for cermic coat, PPF etc so won't have it to play with for another week or so.
