BMW and M Power Owners

Decided on a replacement? :)
Potentially, I'm doing some man maths and having a good think. I would struggle to find another individual F80 with the same spec as mine, however it's not really practical if I want to put the dog in it as an example and I really miss a manual gearbox. I also want something slower and more chuckable.

Or is LCI that much better?
think I'd want to see if two screen have different amounts of glare&reflection under sunlight - I assume new screen is not a different tech - Amoled - otherwise there'd be more publicity;
... tablets can be great if you can see them.

@Demon I might be selling my individual F80 Comp if you wanted a look at it? I'm not far from you.
Thanks for the offer.. I’m flitting between 4 seater convertibles, something like the m340i touring (for its practicality and looks) and an Aston Martin Vantage roadster, so at the moment the f80 wouldn’t fit the bill.. awesome car though!

Both or instead of? They’re very different cars….

How about a Range Rover? Or Caterham?

He should probably consider a long wheelbase Mercedes Sprinter van as well.

Crazy isn't it.. I have a list of requirements that can't be met*, so I have to choose which is the best compromise..
1. Must be an auto (that's easy to fulfill)
2. Must carry 4 adults + dog (easy in some cars)
3. Ideally a convertible since I've had 5 now, and also had many sports bikes so like that open top motoring
4. With getting older, easy ingress/egress would be nice
5. Has some aspect that makes me like it, so a little unique, or fast, or quirky, or something.
6. I love tech, so love gadgets on the car..

So, to get over req 3 of being a convertible, it needs to have something unique that appeals.. I've been in an M340i touring recently and loved it, and if going away from a convertible, the touring has many practicalities that make it worth considering for me.
The AMV8 roadster is another odd one.. I saw one at a prestige dealer when looking at a Maserati Gran Cabrio (didn't like it, terrible running costs!) that ticks requirement 5 so heavily, I have considered just throwing the other requirements out the window, however, I'm not quite at that stage yet..

It's bad to have to compromise, but also, good in that I can consider different things and not just do a tick box exercise, it might well get me out of my comfort zone..
Essentially I think I can see me slightly favouring comfort and tootling around over hardcore M cars and see how I get on..

* - I can think of one car that meets all 6 requirements in many ways, but I can't bring myself to see one just yet but may force myself on the weekend, (it has a potential image problem ;))

Oh it's quite easy to have a whole skew of options isn't it? I'm going between a Cayman and an M3 Touring for example. I don't need the room, but love both of those cars.

If you don't need the room, why not go for an M3 saloon? They are significantly cheaper than the touring too

I prefer higher spec/slightly older, a Jan 2020 registered with 21K miles for £40.5k in Dravit seems OK? Or is LCI that much better?
Looks like exactly the same spec as mine!

...because I don't really like the saloon. I did consider an M340 too, but it didn't quite do it for me tbh. Fantastic car though.

1. Must be an auto (that's easy to fulfill) - The V8V isn't a proper auto, but an old single plate clutch, so worth bearing this in mind and whether or not you'd be happy with this.
2. Must carry 4 adults + dog (easy in some cars) - The V8V coupe will be fine with 2 passengers and a small/medium dog, the Volante won't as it doesn't have a rear dog shelf. Remember that all Vantages are 2 seaters, not 2+2.
3. Ideally a convertible since I've had 5 now, and also had many sports bikes so like that open top motoring
4. With getting older, easy ingress/egress would be nice - The V8V is quite low, not always the easiest to get into - although not terrible for the sort of car. Tight car parks will be hard if you struggle.
5. Has some aspect that makes me like it, so a little unique, or fast, or quirky, or something. - The Aston will almost certainly tick this box.
6. I love tech, so love gadgets on the car.. - ... and almost certainly not tick this one.

If you're favouring comfort, you might be better off with a a DB9, although the V8V is pretty comfortable for what it is. Imo, you're not going to be happy with this list unless you compromise. For context I have a G31 540i touring and V8V Coupe - they are both very different cars.

Maybe a Rapide S? I looked at them but I'm not comfortable piling loads of miles on it (I drive quite a lot). Main dealers have them for £50-60k.

Not a convertible and will be a bit old hat gadget wise though, as above. Rear space is quite snug but it is a proper 4 door/4 seater.

M850i Convertible?
