BMW and M Power Owners

"good" result I think. Although I should never have had all this hoo haa in the first plave
yes - maybe you should challenge them on their designation of incident as goodwill, versus your rights - did amp show water damage to confirm their theory.
as you'd suggested & now seeing picture of amp location; I'd seen (very) small quantities of water in touring rear battery tray which probably came via adjacent similar vent,
they must have some theories on what previous owner drove through/did to get excessive water in there;
I never use Karcher water lance in random directions under body, or even near mirrors as a precaution against getting into electrics.

Bump request on this - all been ok since replacement? I'm about to go through the same with my X3 M40i with HUD. I've specifically requested an OEM screen but Autoglass are quoting mid August as next availability
All been fine, other than Autoglass don't seem to be able to sort a slight air bubble between the rain/light sensor and the windscreen. No functional issues, more cosmetic, but they've had 3 goes now and no joy. They've gone silent on me now too. HUD has been fine though.

That timeframe sounds about right though, they quote around 6 weeks for OEM glass.

That looks fantastic @rG-tom. I was torn between Aventurine Red and Tanzanite Blue for my M550i. Went with the latter as I thought the contrast with the red calipers looked better than Aventurine+blue calipers. I didn't think Tanzanitte+blue or Aventurine+red would look right because the calipers are different to the body paint work, now not so sure it would have been a problem. Also just realised I forgot to add laser lights. Probably more cosmetic difference when they're off. The adaptive LEDs I have on my 540i are great and I can count on two hands the times I've used high beam in the last four years so should be fine.

Either way too late now, picking up the car on Monday, taking it for cermic coat, PPF etc so won't have it to play with for another week or so.

Ah congrats! It's a shame they didn't do a lighter blue on the non-M g30, the f90 look a great in San merino.

I absolutely love this colour though!

Re headlights, all the views I've been able to find are that on the 5 series laser lights don't add much at all because in 99/100 situations they're identical to laser, and it's basically only on completely dark fast roads that the lasers will even come on. Coming from an f36 with "basic" adaptive LEDs (ie ones that can't do beam splitting etc), these are absolutely amazing and way brighter, can't even imagine laser lights.

For me the non-negotiable specification was:

At least Comfort pack to get the absolutely incredible comfort seats (plus was a nice to have but I can live without cooled and massage seats)
Nappa (Dakota makes the g30 feel a lot less premium). Merino would have been amazing particularly as it adds the dash, but buying used this is tough
Tech plus - this I wouldn't negotiate on, I really wanted DAP, and I'm very glad I got it - it functions better than my wife's Tesla's autopilot for sure!

Where are you based?

I was looking at Aventurine Red metallic for my iX, but also wanted the Titanium bronze exterior trim and this makes it look like Iron Man , so went with standard white.

still like their sunset orange - if I had the luxury of buying new would consider distinctive colour as a passive safety opportunity, too (like clothing for cyling/running)
some of the red shades do seem over used now - I blame mazda 3, it's like a club.

I mean, I get why there are so many different shades, of grey, they’re popular, but I don’t understand WHY they’re popular!?

Makes no sense, when it's red and I'm doing 5mph in a 30zone lol

It must be when it's unsure of the speed limit
It will always have a limit, even when confused it'll have a value (mine sometimes jumps to 60 when it obviously is not)

Yep, I'm not too worried about the lasers. Pretty happy with the rest of my spec, need to get over the loss of ceramic dials and soft close doors but they're first world problems by any measure.

I'm based in London so the "frugal" nature of the V8 will be more noticeable than the hp... perhaps.

What spec did you go for?

I'm an hour north of London (was Highbury until mass exodus during COVID :D). We should have an ocuk m550 meet, never seen another one except at dealers so far!

Did you manage to get a good discount for a run out slot?

I think discount and trade-in were decent given the prices have continued to go up since my initial order, also there were some goodwill gestures for my old car that saved me a lot of costs on that (fingers crossed, only handed it back today).

No pics from the pickup today, took it straight to get detailed, ceramic coated and selective PPF, will have it back next week.

The spec is pretty standard, tech +, driver assistance+, comfort seats, ash trunkwood "open pore" trim. Towbar is the only less common option, should make it more convenient to head to new places with the bike.

I only drove a short distance today but included stop/start traffic, some a-roads and motorway. Car felt great, engine obviously smooth as silk and being gentle during run-in didn't push it on the m-way. The most immediate improvement was the ride quality though. My '19 540i MSport didn't have adaptive but never felt uncomfortable, maybe a bit loud over bumps from time-to-time but the M550i with adaptive suspension was so smooth and quiet, feels much more refined. Maybe the tyres play a part too, didn't pay a lot of attention to what they are other than noticing they were Pirelli but different model than I had before. I have a lot of configuring to do it was surprising how much information is presented to the driver just in the instrument cluster let alone iDrive etc. but I won't get in to how digital display vs dials.

I know a lot of people don't rate the dakota leather but I was happy with it previously and having got the new car, actually feel it isn't the leather that feels out-of-place in the interior. The a/c dials and iDrive controller are terrible and coming from cermic controls it's a huge let down. I had made my peace with plastic as ceramic was no longer an option but there is a rubber "collar" for want of a better word, around them, I guess for grip. Feels like an afterthought still in prototype, the finish is terrible and the shifter has a similar low class feel. Final gripe is about the keys. The fobs appear the same as before but the actual key part is plastic rather than metal, both feeling and looking cheap. These things bug me (at least for now) because they're the points of contact with the car and should exude quality, not the opposite.

Hopefully a week apart and the V8 will make me forget about the gripes. Will then be on a road trip to the south of France so should get properly settled in to the car.

@rG-tom we can do an OCUK/London/M550i meet later in summer!

was reading about heritage of a Dravite competitor :

Porsche-Inspired Color

According to colors.rs, Fashion Grey is a vintage Porsche paint going all the way back to the 1950-53. Some BMW customers describe Fashion Grey as having a green hue in darker light conditions while looking very light under the sun. The exterior of this BMW M3 G80 exhibits a change in hue depending on which angle you are viewing it from. And you can easily see that in the photos below.

Driving a Dravite myself, I have to say its one of the strangest colours I have ever seen and is completely different in lighting level and direction. Plus its the most complimented car I have ever owned
