BMW and M Power Owners

Are there any sites that archive all the UK brochures, including spec levels and options?

I've planned that my next car will be a G20/21 3-series when my Tesla lease runs out in 3 years. I'm expecting to spend around £22-25k on it, which should get me a good example at around 3 years old. I don't need mega spec, and the less sporty the better. I'd just like to start getting my eye in for what spec gets me what :)

You don't need a brochure when you have Fox. (can't tag him for some reason). Search through his posts in this thread, he's talked about spec options on that model a few times and the complications around silicone shortages.

3 years time? I don't even know what I'm having for dinner

I’d start with the M Sport pack, only because it includes quite a few nice things as standard such as front/rear sensors, and a reversing camera.

Next I’d be after the visibility pack for laser lights, which not only improve night time visibility, but give you beam splitting around other vehicles. I found it extremely useful.

Tech pack is great but unless you want a HUD or upgraded audio, I wouldn’t bother.

Then if you want memory seats, it needs to have the comfort pack (or plus pack, can’t quite remember)

Standard suspension on them is really good if you’re not on runflats so you don’t need the M Sport Plus Pack (which gives bigger brakes and adaptive dampers).

Above may be irrelevant on an LCI vehicle which is what you’d be looking at in 3 years.

Doesn't the M Sport pack include massive wheels? :p I'd like to avoid that; the smaller the better.

I'm trying to set some strict goals, which includes getting out of the lease cycle and buying outright. As I have 3 years left on my lease, I can save a good chunk in that time, which will then free up a chunk of my monthly income again.

I don't need an EV, and I've wanted a BMW since forever, so I think a 2024/2025 3 Series will make a very nice buy in March 2028 :)

My post just shows how silly I am. If I'm going to get a 3 year old car, in 3 years, I can just start grabbing all the current brochures :D

I presume the silicon shortages will be done by now, and so all 2024/2025 cars will be to spec?

The plus pack does - standard M Sport is 18s which is absolutely fine if you’re not on runflats.

Heck, even 19s on my 340i (which is the older suspension, not as good as the G20) with Asy 6s is actually pretty decent.

IMO get a pre 2024 car.

I owned a 2019 G20 and had an LCI G20 for 2 weeks.

IMO the pre LCI is a much better car. Nicer infotainment which is more user friendly, more buttons.

Plus having to turn off lane keep assist and speed limiter each time was killer, though I think lane assist was a 2019/20 thing.

You'll need a 2022 or earlier car to avoid the newer 3 series as that's when the update was. The most recent 2024 update is quite small in comparison.

I agree when your view and picked a 2021 car to avoid it, it's not that the newer one is bad, it's very much a personal preference.

I'd often read people online talk about cars having "too much power for the roads" which I generally dismissed as a slightly absurd comment...

Well... I'm coming up to over six months of F90 M5 ownership and I now know what those people meant!

I absolutely the love the car. Being slightly unusual in loving big saloon cars since I could drive and having owned various diesel saloons over the years, I don't think anything else would have been sufficient to satisfy my desire, than the ultimate super-saloon that is the M5 with a roaring V8.

The feel good factor of ownership is intangible, just walking up to it and firing it up each morning is a joy. I've also been surprised at just how much of a conversation starter it is when out and about, in the last six-months I've had 15+ either full on conversations with strangers at petrol stations or car parks or more brief people just saying "nice car" and a few times I've spotted people taking a photo - this is not something I expected at all - presumed that kind of stuff only happened with Ferraris etc but it's been nice nonetheless.

Now... back to the power bit... the limit of this car just cannot be reached or even remotely reached on the road. You can absolutely hammer the pedal and press on and the car just responds "is that it... MORE". It's very difficult to describe but it feels like unlimited power.

I've read about it online as I presumed to some degree it could just be me as I come from a line of 3.0 diesel Mercs, Jags etc. so I'm not a seasoned 600bhp+ V8 twin-turbo owner. But there seems to be a general consensus online of similar bewilderment of the amount of power - not that anyone anticipates an M5 to be slow but its more so the relentless power delivery.

This is all amazing technically and on paper, but when you turn on to a country lane smash the pedal and you're at 95+ in next to no time with almost no drama and the car still doesn't even feel remotely stretched... thing get to licence losing speeds very quickly.

Absolutely no regrets in purchasing as if I didn't it would've always been a "why didn't I do it!"... I anticipated keeping this for 2-3 years but in the next 6-12 months I'll be considering alternatives...

If anyone has made a similar move would be interested in what you went for.
