Noticed the new M2 was parked in the dealer car park

Exterior still doesn't work for me

None of the angles work on the new M2.

Toronto red is a cracking colour though, I miss our X3M shouting back at me in the sun :)

After a 6 month wait from ordering/build to delivery it was time to say goodbye to my trusty M340i yesterday.

And say hello to it's replacement. I am aware opinions on the look are divided, but after launch and seeing some in person my view changed and I really like them (or I wouldn't have ordered one).

Unfortunately it came with the PZeros fitted and not PS4S that I hoped it would, other than that I am very pleased with it and just need to do another 1100 miles to run it in.

It's off to the detailers to be treated this week and will have PPF applied to the front shortly.

Excellent car! I think the front end looks great on them, it all works very nicely together. Great colour too.

I believe those are the normal seats, which is good. The carbon ones are quite difficult to get out of! I have driven a couple and they cover the ground very quickly indeed.

Out of interest what did you get as trade in for the M340i? Or did you WBAC it?

You are correct, they’re the standard seats, it’s my daily car and I don’t think i would get on with the bucket seats at all.

I traded it in, I got just under 33k with a brake fluid service outstanding (due to my local dealership being useless and cancelling the service a few days before it was due, and then not being able to book me again for another month). I did also manage to get an acceptable discount on the price, unfortunately nothing like the discount with the M340i (this was ordered to my spec though and the M340i was a stock car they had).

Folks,

Love it!! M3 Touring or Alpina B3 Touring is on my list for my next car in a year or two (currently have a 2021 G21 M340i Touring). I'm curious to know what your first impressions on the M3 compared to your M340 are in terms of power delivery and daily driving? Obviously they are rather different beasts but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.

Folks, I'm looking at changing my tyres on the M340i. Currently have the original Bridgestone Turanza RFT's on and from what many folk say, switching to non-RFT's is a good idea. I am really out of the loop when it comes to car tyres and whats good/whats not. Unsure as whether to go for an all rounder/all seasons tyre (live in Scotland, drive on wet roads more often than dry ones even in the so called 'Summer') or whether to go for the ubiquitous Michelin PS4 which seems to very much be the flavour of choice for lots of people. Any thoughts on tyres for the 3 series/M340?

Depends how you drive the car. If safety is top priority, I would be sticking all seasons on.

But if driving dynamics are important, I’d be inclined to go with the latest Asymmetrics.

MP4S or CS7.

Black Circles are doing 15% off on Michelin today.

I find Black Circles the most expensive place to get tyres most of the time, even with discounts.

ATS or F1 Autocentres are usually cheaper :)

Just checked and Black Circles are the cheapest for PS5 on my car atm - quite a good price actually!

The first thing I did with my M340i - the week I got it - was to throw the Bridgestone tyres away (ok, I had Kwik Fit do it) and fit 4 BMW Star Marked Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.

It's like driving a different car.

In a good way.

The ride quality is just right for the sort of car it is now, before it was sufficiently harsh that I was a bit worried I'd made an awful mistake as I drove the car home from the dealer...

Cheers, Fox. How do they perform in the wet? Decent? I'm certainly erring towards non-RFT's.

I almost pulled the trigger on a brand new set of 20" 795M's with P-Zero RFT's at the weekend, but I'm still put off by the fact that BMW don't recommend the fitment of them to the Touring, only the saloon. In fact, from what some owners group members are saying, some dealers point blank refuse to supply and fit the 795M's to a G21. Something to do with them not being tested for the Touring and potential issues with the axle weights? Then again, it may be a similar situation to the whole front splitter thing - they approve it for the saloon but not the Touring, bizarrely - simply because its not been tested or homologated on the Touring.

Anyway, I digress.........back to tyres :D

For me they have been excellent in all conditions.

I really wouldn't want 20" wheels on a 3 Series. I can't think of a single thing about the car it wouldn't make worse. 19" wheels are the right size for these I think.

My Toronto Red X3M Comp needs to go now as I'll be back to towing a lot again next year. Will use the E46 M3 for a while, it's only done 650 miles in 4 years so needs some use.

The X3M Comp will be fondly remembered as one of the most bonkers car I've ever owned. Not sure how I'm gonna live without an S58 in my life, another awesome BMW engine.

Which engines/models are preferred for 2017-2020 3 series?
I have seen 320I, 320D, 330D and 335D that we like the look of. Just wanted to check in here in case a particular variant should be avoided.
