BMW and M Power Owners

It did but this changed last year. The price of the package with the traffic information in was reduced at the same time but not by enough to stop it being more expensive.

It does mean that if you didn't want the maps the subscription is now less than it was.
Super annoying, I rarely use the in built nav but it's a nice to have backup in case phone signal dies or I'm abroad and don't have roaming etc. I guess I'll just do without RTTI and the map updates.

Just had my interim service (brake fluid) and mot.

Bit of odd experience. Didn’t get any phone calls or usual email with video.

I phoned twice checking on my car and the second time they said it’s ready. 3:30 and 4:30 after dropping it off at 8:30.

I needed a lift back to the dealer so needed to know it was ready etc.

Picked up the car and paid the bill.

Got home and read that i have excessive oil level and a red box marked against engine oil on the service summary.

They spelt my name wrong in the email address on the page so I guess that might be why I didn’t get a video.

Apparently I accepted for them not to fix this. Although I didn’t sign anything. Even though it’s advised, and the last people to touch my oil was them a couple years ago.

I only do 6k a year.

I used the built in engine oil measurement on I-drive and said all was fine. It has a dipstick so will check tomorrow manually, although I park on a slight slope which might not help.

Guess I’ll have to phone them and ask what this all means…
So phoned them and they said I need it to come in for an investigation. As excess oil level might mean fuel is getting into the oil…

They said it’s £100 something for investigation.

I said I’m covered by warranty…and he said if any fault it found under warranty it would be fixed and not cost a penny.

What happens if they turn round and say nothing it actually wrong? Do I still pay the investigation fee?

Did it not warn of an oil problem before the service ? if not an the warning was first logged during service then probably their actions that caused it.

No. So signal of any issue.

I measured only after reading the report and the oil level is on the max line.

Out of interest what did you get as trade in for the M340i? Or did you WBAC it?

I traded it in, I got just under 33k with a brake fluid service outstanding (due to my local dealership being useless and cancelling the service a few days before it was due, and then not being able to book me again for another month). I did also manage to get an acceptable discount on the price, unfortunately nothing like the discount with the M340i (this was ordered to my spec though and the M340i was a stock car they had).
It looks like the M340i didn't hang about long, it appeared on their site after around 3-4 days for £36,975 (I think) and had gone from the site in around a week (and since it's now taxed again I assume it sold).

Today, I had my Merc GLE Hire car taken away and given a BMW 530e To use until the 440i is back from repair.

Battery flat, on charge and will have 29 Miles range on battery. Pretty cool. I'll charge it at work and not worry about putting fuel in it :D

Welcome to the future

Have you looked at the 330i or is it out of budget? I found the 320i a little underpowered and it's the same engine. Economy in the 330i is mighty impressive.
It's out of budget, plus the 320i having such low miles and only a year old captured our attention.

We're coming from a 1.2 Citroen C3 too, which probably means I won't be underwhelmed by the performance of the 320i.

It appears to be fairly low spec.

I'd go for something a bit older with more miles, here's a 330i -

Thanks for looking at it and suggesting the 330i.
What would make you go for a 2019 330i with 44k miles over a 2022 320i with less than 10k?

If it's simply performance I think we would be happy since we're coming from the C3.

The car I linked has leather heated front seats, Carplay/android auto and a 0-60 of 7ish seconds which is ample for us.

Before the C3 we had a 67 plate 1.4 litre A4 S Line. If the 320i is comparable to that and reliable, I'd prefer that over an older car with more miles, despite it being a quicker engine.

I don't think you will find the performance to be an issue either, the 330i is the same engine just a bit quicker - both are fine. The 330i could also push you into the luxury car tax band (£50~ a month).

If you look at the advert for the 330i, the things listed under 'additional features' are things the 320i you found won't have. You may not be bothered about any of them, but it's worth checking.

I would personally always prefer a slightly older car (assuming it's the same model) with more miles in order to get a better spec and engine, but it will seem like a huge upgrade for you either way. In terms of standard spec you're pretty well covered with iDrive and CarPlay, as you say.

Also, Cazoo mention no service history, but service intervals are (approx) 2 years or 18k so it won't have needed one yet. And their warranty doesn't really matter as the manufacturer warranty lasts until 3 years, at which point you can extend it via BMW.

Thanks @Robbo i appreciate the advice a lot! You're right, it'll be a huge upgrade regardless. We just want something decent, reliable and well worth the money. The warranty cover is nice too.
