BMW and M Power Owners

.
My car is 2014 and 87k miles. BMW approved trade in is £8k and they have very little (or no) movement on the screen price.
I can get much nearer £13k with a dealer that would re-sell the car.

I can't see you getting a trade in offer of that for a near 100k mile 2014 3 series in the current market. What have the car buying services offered?

£10.5k
Non-main dealers will often fix the sale price of a new car, but adjust adjust the trade-in value.

But you don't win, they do.

If the car is worth around £10500 to the trade then that's what it's worth. Any extra they give you isn't real, it's money you could have got off the sticker price of the car that's all.

I'd sell the car separately and remove the trade in from the deal.

Don't the dealers ramp the trade in price too as they will be paying VAT just on the profit(loss) they make when they resell it,
albeit, they have to pay vat on the newer car they sell you, maybe it balances out, though ? (they have the parts&labour they put into either car too that avoid that liability)

Just had my interim service (brake fluid) and mot.

Bit of odd experience. Didn’t get any phone calls or usual email with video.

I phoned twice checking on my car and the second time they said it’s ready. 3:30 and 4:30 after dropping it off at 8:30.

I needed a lift back to the dealer so needed to know it was ready etc.

Picked up the car and paid the bill.

Got home and read that i have excessive oil level and a red box marked against engine oil on the service summary.

They spelt my name wrong in the email address on the page so I guess that might be why I didn’t get a video.

Apparently I accepted for them not to fix this. Although I didn’t sign anything. Even though it’s advised, and the last people to touch my oil was them a couple years ago.

I only do 6k a year.

I used the built in engine oil measurement on I-drive and said all was fine. It has a dipstick so will check tomorrow manually, although I park on a slight slope which might not help.

Guess I’ll have to phone them and ask what this all means…

The car feels fine so I suspect it'll be fine, I'll get them to do a free check on Friday although I'm not sure what equipment they use. I was going to get it done by BMW next year as I think I'll be due brakes within 6 months or so.

It only takes one dick of a drain cover/pothole/cats eye/off camber cracked bit of road... Yet the amount we pay for road tax
Roads are indeed not great, eyes on stalks... Though I have to say its been a while since I needed alignment and tracking done. I usually go by the wear pattern on my tyres. On my last car I did it once in 4 years and even then it was hardly out.

Yeah I'm just very careful as I run posh genuine rare wheels/expensive coilovers/poly bushings/adjustable arms etc on my cars so I won't even go over a drain cover haha.

Erm.. Nope. you pay nothing in road tax as it was abolished in 1937

Its local councils having budgets cut to the bone

This is true but the VED you do pay goes towards the governments overall budget, which is then fed to councils.

In a roundabout way, it is contributing to the funding of roads.

That being said, it is currently emissions based, not usage based.

Connected Drive Black Friday discounts this week.

Maybe I'm going mad, didn't RTTI and map updates come as part of the same package for the F8*? Now it looks to be part of two separate packages driving the price up to £126.40. I'll stick with Waze, thanks!

It did but this changed last year. The price of the package with the traffic information in was reduced at the same time but not by enough to stop it being more expensive.

It does mean that if you didn't want the maps the subscription is now less than it was.
