BMW and M Power Owners

3 series touring, for the versatility to move DIY stuff .. fridge, rowing machine ... all helped by low sill - rear visibility & rear passenger ambiance/light good too.
(grand tourismo did look cavernous though - if only they'd kept it)

Ouch, just spoke to the garage, they're going through the roof issue bit by bit ticking off any potential faults before the nuclear option of new roof motor at £2.5k from BMW....and which only might fix it.

Apparently the codes are nothing they've seen before so it's nothing obvious like micro switches. They've changed the main battery as that was old and nearly dead anyway, which has had 'an' effect but the roof still won't move.

My 440i GC is home!
Looks great. Only issue I have is the panel gap between Top of wing and pillar. It's double that of the other side.
Might just be a quick adjustment.

They have chipped the door pull cover inside, and have ordered one for fitment next week. I'll ask them about the gap when I pop on next week.

They painted the bonnet which is wonderful. Was on my list of things to do anyway. Looks like a new car now.

Total cost approximately 11k. :O

Hot damm...my SOS battery died and BMW quoting £500 for a replacement. Apparently not covered on insured warranty because the battery is a consumable lol

That sucks. Similar ish story but my dad's secondary battery on the xc60 was throwing up errors on the dash. Stop start wouldn't work etc. Checked the warranty and yup batteries are consumable and so not covered. Yet we booked it in to be replaced and they did it free of charge.... Under warranty. Weird right!

Mine was replaced under extended warranty while the car was in for a service. Might be worth trying another garage.

Is this your X5? Lots of reports of this problem, if the batteries are only lasting 3-4 years the fact they are not located under some sort of access hatch isn't great for what seems to be a consumable part now.

Haha yeah I might give that a try

Saw an i7 on the motorway yesterday. Hands down the ugliest car I've seen. Worse than the XM. BMW has absolutely lost the design plot.
When you're inside watching movies on your 31-inch 8K ultra-wide TV screen, I don't think you really care about what it looks like :p

I may well take you up on that offer if I can't get the battery changed under warranty lol.
If your local BMW is Coventry then I'm not too far away :D
Yea cov and Leicester BMW are both the same distance from me.
I'm in Hinckley

I tried this battery in my ATM unit prior to having BMW replace the whole thing (mine was water damaged as it turned out)

No it was in the X3. The battery has a life limit on it which I think is four years. Mine didn't actually fail but popped a message up about requiring replacement due to life. They replaced it and claimed on the warranty. If it the same one its the battery in a module located under the headlining, it's quick release once you drop the headlining down.
