BMW and M Power Owners

Our 18 plate Tiguan was picked up for a service by our local VW dealership. It was the post sales manager and she left a 24 plate Tiguan with us for the day. Very nice but very annoying in terms over zealous safety things and simple options buried within the infotainment system. When she dropped ours of she said she preferred it in pretty much every way.

Kinda the same feeling about replacing my M3 with a newer one. I like analogue dials and I roper noise. And being able to get in and drive, without faffing about in menus to turn things off.

Yeah the coolant module thing died! So it had to go in to be replaced under warranty. There was also some battery error message, which they've done a software update to in the hopes that it'll be fixed.

I tried the 320i (auto) in hybrid mode this morning and it felt just like the 330e. So, I think it's the way in which they've programmed the throttle. It just feels very artificial, so I think I might be driving in sport from now on!

Honestly, I wish I'd got the 320i. Oh
Maybe! No idea :)

I had actually bought a 330e before the 330i, but Arnold Clark sucks and they just couldn’t get a small repair correct! So I ended up pulling out.

I actually really liked it, admittedly I only had a wee 30 minute drive, but didn’t seem too dissimilar.

I still like the 330e and in the grand scheme of things, I probably wouldn’t be able to tell too much of a difference.

Enjoy the car, it’s an awesome platform to be on!

Hi there

I’ve done a load of work on the 325i Sport myself and then handed it to an E30 specialist who has done what I did not amongst other items and also thoroughly pulling it apart to discover what if any rust turns out there is some that is not an immediate threat but should be sorted if I want to get it spot on.

Video I made:

It’s an F80 not a E46

Love that , wish I still had my 325i.

Off to BMW dealership shortly after an email from a retentions manager telling me there are some brilliant opportunites at the moment after I requested my settlement figure (as I was curious). I then had a call yesterday from the dealership to make the appointment and I told them I had zero money (no deposit, no equity in the car etc) but was told it didn't matter and to come down and obviously to bring my drivers license. So, I'll report back shortly with my brand new M5 which I'll have been given for £0 deposit and the same monthly payments. Can't wait! This is gonna be a wasted trip, but I suppose looking at cars is never wasted. :p

'Only a £3,500 deposit and £1,200pm! I'm sure you'll find it hard to turn down!

So it was kind of a wasted trip, as I suspected. But I did narrow down what I'd probably like next. The chap was trying to get me to test drive the 220i and turns out they had none so he got me an M240. lol. That thing was nice! And then we talked figures and parted ways. I'll reach out again in about 12 months. Funny they only offered 27k for my car; WBAC offered over 30k. Was a nice little trip out anyway haha.

I've found that a pretty typical experience. I've had it several times, not with BMW but with others, where you call up and ask about cars in your budget. They say they don't have any, but maybe can work something out so you go in with a firm budget, and they run the numbers and surprise surprise, it's double what you were willing to pay.

It's not a good sales tactic. It just makes you wonder what ******* planet they're on.

Thoughts on these ? Milage is abit higher than I would normally buy on , as I want to try and buy on 50-60k miles

It's a petrol engine which I don't know much about

Stop focusing on extreme low mileage, it's not the be all or end all. 74k for an 11 year old car seems fine (just below average taking COVID into account)

It's got the wrong petrol engine N20 which had a few problems - ideally you want the B48 which was only available from 2015.

Ok thanks for the info

That's pretty scandalous
Aye, not even close, and £3k is a lot of money to be short of!

Yep! They make out like they'll get it all worked out don't they lol and then it's just a laugh a minute when the figure comes back (in this case) I think it was over £650 for the M240. Aparently for every extra £1000 you get £25 off the monthly payment. So to get down to like the £400 range I'd need to slap down a £10k deposit. Ater specifically saying, I had no money. TBF I'm not wantin to change, quite happy, it was just that they had reached out to me you know. I'll try again in 12 months, but most likely via Carwow. :)

Why would you want a 4 wheel drive one? It's also a completely basic specification. I'm not really sure a 320i like that has any appeal at all.

If you're going to get a BMW, get a good one, otherwise you end up with all the disadvantages of an old BMW without any of the advantages - the whole point is they do great cars with great engines and great gearboxes that drive really well. A good one is arguably worth putting up with the costs involved as they get older, but I don't see why you'd want to bother with that for a 320i like that. Even that instrument cluster has the really small display.

It is £8k though, which doesn't buy much these days.
