BMW and M Power Owners

Looking for some advice, driving back from down south yesterday and my 330ci developed a rattling nouise from the under carriage, only seems to happen when going slow and over bumps, fine on the motorway. Got it up on the ramp tonight and see that this double clamp, the one with the missing bolt seems to be the cause of the rattle. My question, is this clam[ mnexesarry and can it just be removed or is it required?

If required what is it called and how much for a new one, roughly?

Overall for a 18 year old car, the under side is very clean, small bits of rust around the battery compartment but apart from that all good. Did notice one of the mud flaps is loose so would be on the look out for one of those as well.

If any E46 or 3330ci owners can advise that would be apprecitaed

Congrats! 3 Series is quite low - something to bear in mind when lifting a baby in and out of the car. Not sure about boot space, but the X3 will be much easier to get in and out of - for pregnant partner and for (un)loading baby/toddler.
True but by the time they’re two they’ll want to get in and out themselves, which in an SUV is more difficult for them.

Thank you! I’m hoping to get a test drive in both at the weekend. If I go for a 3 series I’d be tempted to go new as the discounts are pretty good at the moment and I’m quite fussy on spec. The X3 would be used though, the new one is hideous!

But the list price is much higher now and some of the standard equipment on the a M340i, like metallic paint, 19 inch wheels, adaptive suspension and leather seats are now options where they used to be standard..

Wow I hadn't realised just how expensive these have gotten with all the options. Speccing the closest equivalent to what I have is nearly £74k! I paid £45k for mine in March 2021 when it was just 6 months old with 3k on the clock, and that was on the high end then..

Looks like you just need to re attach it to the bracket which is a few cm below where it sits now and put a couple of hex bolts in to resecure it. Otherwise the easier option is to just remove the bracket although its broken away from the bracket that supports the double clamp which tells me there is some movement hence the broken bolts (rust won't help either i guess).

Anyone have a clue why my 2019 M850i has 3 batteries? It has a 60AH AGM under the bonnet and then a 120AH AGM and a little lithium battery (I think it was 12 or 15AH) in the boot. I expected an AGM and a lithium for the active rear wheel steering, but can't find any info about why it would have 3. I suspect something to do with the batteries continues to interfere with my OTA updates executing - I have never been able to update myself since I owned the car.

Need a 550i engine bay shot ... the magic is there and it's sound (are there manufacturers who still strive for elegance there, ev's being the end of the line)
leather and wood lovely, so maybe some asmr sounds of getting into drivers seat.
e: what's the sound system

The one thing that surprised me is how far back the V8 sits:

Been meaning to get a better sound video but here's an old one:

And for the sound system, it's Harmon Kardon. Not having b&w is the one major option I wish it had, but it already has more spec than 90% of m550i (the non-negotiables for me was comfort seats with at least Nappa leather and tech plus which gives the driving assistant professional IE radar cruise and basic self driving etc).

Only about 300 were ever sold in the UK, and almost all of them were navy blue black or grey, so an individual Aventurin red with ivory nappa AND all but one of the options I really wanted was close enough. I don't think a single car has been for sale in the 18 months I've owned this that has had a better spec and interesting colour to the point I would have chosen it over this.

It's amazing how quickly BMW styling has gone wrong. Only a few years ago most of the range looked fantastic with plenty of options for subtle yet special looking cars.

I've had both and there's not that much difference really - not that I'm an audio connoisseur! The best thing is the lights in the speakers :p
