BMW and M Power Owners

It's not, it's just that it isn't designed for that purpose.

But it depends what car he has, he hasn't said - if it's a plug in hybrid or a full electric then it works differently and should allow defrosting and heating.
What's it actually useful for? Summer day to get the hot air out?

I never use it, seems pointless

BMW followed Mercedes and disabled remote start for defrosting. I guess it was to rule out folk leaving cars idling on the highway without a driver (illegal).

JLR didn't give AF and you can happily remote start a petrol car; the driver is trusted to do it in a legal way.

£18.63 for BMW Screenwash at the minute on either Amazon or Ebay

Good price considering current weather!

Which car do you have?

Unless it's an electric or plug in hybrid then all this option does is switch the ventilation fans on in the car remotely. It won't defrost the car or heat it.
Hey Fox

21 plate 420i..

So no defrost then!!

According to the BW UK site

It states that it should ventilate, cool or heat the vehicle to the temp you last set it at. Cant find exactly what pack is needed.

My BMW Insured Warranty for my 530d is due for renewal in January, I'm currently on 51k miles. Is anyone able to tell me what the 'discounted' (i.e you already have an existing policy) rate is for the year once you crack 60k miles? Also, any idea if the loophole is still in place where if I was to renew on the montly payment in January 2025 I would effectively remain on the 'sub 60k' rate until I either chose to renew annually or BMW catch on?
Cheers

It says depending on the equipment. Your car doesn't have this, so it won't work.

You need an electric or plug in hybrid BMW to heat or cool the vehicle using the climate control remotely.

Pretty crap that seals don't last 6 years these days.

My doors seals on a 21 plate F40 M135i have failed this year and been told my comprehensive warranty doesn't cover it. I chase up my dealer to get it done under goodwill but it's 6 months and counting so far....

The heat of the summer has made them all peel away from the doors where there is a join at the bottom/middle.

Had this happen on both my Ford Focus's. I just put some double sided tape on them.

That's my understanding. Set up the direct debit and leave it - you'll keep the lower rate. After 100k miles they reserve the right to consider the warranty renewal status after carrying out any repairs, but often they're happy to leave it running.

I've used 3M digitiser tape on all mine that came loss, on my 440i and wife's grand cmax.
Stuck well.

BMW are running their usual 20% Black Friday discount on their Connected Drive items again. Handy if you need a Satnav update or want to add anything on.
Yeah, picked up the 12 months map update.
consided the high beam assist as a one off £160 payment but just don't think I would make that much use of it for the cost

If you want, use prestone coolant.
Or better yet, BMW coolant.

Which coolant tank.was low? Big one or smaller one in front?
I got BMW coolant. Mixed it with water from a dehumidifier (apparently this is good to use) and filled it up.

Big one was low , took about 750ml to hit the max marker. Smaller one was also a tiny bit below max so topped that up with a little bit too
My M140i did exactly the same when I had it.

I just replaced the actual cap on the main coolant tank (there is another one if I recall, so check that as well). The new cap appeared to fit a bit more tighter than before and after a couple of top ups, never had the issue.
Cap seemed fine on mine, no signs of leakage so I'll leave it for now and see how it goes
