BMW and M Power Owners

I really want a BMW D3 Alpina. The price puts me off, and the spec. May as well old out for the Bi-Turbo in a few years. Did they have the same engine from the 123d?

Nothing as of yet, I had a ST220 alongside the Elise but it's not doing anything for me car wise so something a lot more interesting is in order.

Neil.

Quick question, What was the Elise like to live with, Did you ever use it as a daily, i'd imagine its not the most comfortable thing to be in on long journeys.

Cheers.

We will get back on the actual topic of BMWs :D

Surely you use the pressure indicated on the door jamb based on the load of the car?

You'd think so, however 44 in the back is a bit interesting in this cold weather/slippery roads, I'm at 41 and the back stepped out on a roundabout this morning on neutral throttle (only a mile from home so cold tyres) on Vreds

Why, IMHO they are massively over-rated, the market value of them now reflects it. The M Sport is better with the exception of the very minor power hike. The interior specification on 90% of them is woeful, cloth seats, no cruise and manual AC?!

The D3 should have been a quicker 330d not some sort of bizarre eco-mobile.

I really like the styling of them. Though I reckon I could get the same aftermarket kit and get a normal 320d with a decent spec.

They mostly all look rubbish from the front as well as the front end is ruined by the awful reflector lenses they all have as almost none of them have Xenons and BMW left projectors out of the standard E90 lights :(

I noticed that and it did make me think, why? There is a nice 330d on the bay for £8k which has done 91k miles. Looks to be a nice spec. I don't think I'd buy one now as I reckon in 3 years time they'll be much lower priced. Might be sub £4k, which appeals to me.

I'm not a fan of BMW's by any means, only a small section tick my boat, but I have been fond of the e90/92 styling. I just want to see what the fuss is about, maybe I'm better off getting the petrol equivalent?

Sub £4k BMW diesels are probably the most pointless used car ever, IMHO.

Are you basing that on the condition/mileage/year for those which are sub £4k?

What pressures are people running in an E46 with 18's? (255/35/18 & 225/40/18)

34 at the front and 38 at the rear, can't remember if that matches what's on the door or not. Ran it slightly higher in the summer at 35 / 40 but the rears feel better at 38 with the cold weather (F1AS2's)

So the last month has seen:

A stripped and skimmed head, uprated gasket, new valves, valve guides re-cut, vanos seals and bolts uprated, injectors cleaned, new spark plugs, re-threaded cam shaft bolts.

Then the main belt tensioner sheared off its mount requiring new tensioner, new oil filter housing, new water pump, new water pump pulley, new AC belt tensioner and new AC and main belts.

Next on the list: new clutch and flywheel at some point but praying to the car gods that I get a break for a bit :p

I heard old petrol BMWs are cheap to run... ;)
