BMW and M Power Owners

DISA is a fairly easy one as far as it goes - should be a 15 minute job to get it out and off the intake :)

Ps, oil filter gasket went out from work this afternoon so should be with you early next week

Awesome, will post up my findings when done :)

Thanks buddy, appreciate it. Trust message me with a few details so I can at the very least reimburse your postage costs :)

If you're going through a bmw dealer tell them to go find you what you want in the network and have them bring it to you. Costs then pennies, especially compared with the potential sale price

Don't do this, most won't do it for you if the car is outside of the dealer group anyway and it erodes your negotiating position

cheers

just searched anyway -and not one 330 M Sport for sale across whole dealer network lol :( (saloon anyway)

a few non M Sports - but I'm worried I'd find the handling not to my taste - although taking one for a test drive might be worth a go to make my own mind up rather than reading forums :)

Is there anywhere that clearly lists what you get in each of the BMW "package" add ons?

The BMW car configurator?

They've not really done 'packages' until the last couple of years anyway with the main exception of the Media Package which has always usually included Navigation, Voice Control and USB Interface.

Had missed the configurator while faffing around the bmw site. You'd need a double decker bus to fit all the options on surely!

They do packages right now on the configurator?

P0420 this morning...oh joy.

Need to get it on inpa rather than the android scanner but its probably time to start swapping o2 sensors....in the rain....and cold.

Whilst you're right about most won't do it outside of their network it makes no difference to your negotiating position ( assuming you're actually any good at negotiating)

I seem to have accidentally just splooged on some BBS RC090s for a reasonable price.
Anyone know the best place to get some centre caps?

Yes, because as I said the fact packs are now common is a recent thing.

Rubbish, if the car isnt owned by the group they must first buy it in order to sell it to you. This means your local dealers margin on the car is lower than the dealer that had the car as they as there are two dealers inserting some profit into the deal. They also won't buy it unless they know you will buy it, which causes problems with appraising the condition etc and is why most wont take the risk.

Took out the DISA valve.

The pin was sticking out about 4mm on the end but wasn't showing signs of going anywhere, so gave it a good push and popped it fully back in (like in the pic) and the rattling has certainly been reduced.

Checked that the vacuum and everything worked as well while it was out and all appears to be good there :)

How much would the following cost estimate be from an independent for a late model steptronic 330ci coupe?

thermostat
water pump
new rad / expansion tank
vanos seals
disa valve
CCV
valve cover gasket
trailing arm bushes
front arms
Seems to be the list of what goes wrong or needs refreshing every now and again?

There is about £1k worth of parts there and about 12ish hours of labour so £1700ish?

What are you talking about? Very few, if any will buy it outside of their own franchise which is the only situation where that problem occurs. You've made that point previously and i've quite clearly agreed even in the text you've quoted.

Should the dealer have a suitable car within their own network, which will give a reasonably large net for most BMW dealers, whether it is 50 or 300 miles away most will be perfectly willing to bring the car if they think you are serious about it. The most you'd ever stand to lose is £100 or so which probably isn't far off what you'd spend travelling to see a car if it looked suitable and was a distance away in any case. At this point you have committed to nothing and are in no worse a position than you were before showing interest in the car - so long as you have a firm idea of what you want to pay and what issues would affect that.

It's largely irrelevant given the guy is struggling to find any suitable cars, but your reply is needlessly pedantic.

I can't remember how the pin is held in (the revised kit screws in from the bottom) - but if it's already moved out I would just remove it and the flap for now then replace the disa.

There isn't a screw, but there doesn't appear to be going anywhere any time soon (tried pulling it out after pushing it in and had no success at all).

I'll get the revised kit in the new year and fit it all then :)

Guessing I could do a few of that myself so maybe £1500... how long would that lot last in terms of miles before it all needs doing again?
