BMW and M Power Owners

Picked this up other day .....its a 2011 520d M sport , wanted something frugal as doing a bit more miles coming up next year... and basically a bmw , i miss them ever since i got rid of my E38 Sport.
Never had a Diesel, Im impressed :) Sat Nav, Bluetooth, Visability Package , Paddleshifts , everything im happy with although wish i had the widescreen split screen nav :( Cars condition inside and out is flawless which was more of a choice for me , some rough ones out there already , even with really low miles :o

That looks lovely, as you said though shame it hasn't got Pro Nav.

Did you make sure it had the upgraded climate control? The standard fit offering on the 520d is missing a pile of features for reasons known only to BMW themselves.

The thought of paying 100k for a diesel 6 series is madness to me. ONE HUNDRED GRAND. Just me? Probably.

I can't even imagine the sort of bizarre options he's had to spec in order to spend £35k on options on a car that already has most things - inc nav, 8 speed auto, xenons, heated seats etc - as standard.

The basic system doesnt have a solar sensor (Which adjusts the temp to take into account the effect of sunlight) fogging sensor or auto recirc. There are a few other differences too but it's tricky to work out quite what they are!

Mental. You could buy another car for £35k, and a very nice one at that. Spending that kind of money on options on a car like a 6 series is surely a terrible decision, you would never see that money again.

Almost nobody would actually do it though, you cna get most cars to almost irrelevent prices by ticking as many option boxes as possible.

I would only do it if £100k was pocket change. The problem then is that if £100k is pocket change, why bother with finance?

So true, a guy on the a1 forum failed big time by buying a 1.6tdi and going crazy on options, £29k! Most stupid thing ever. :o

Although if it wasn't for these stupid people spending silly money on options, there would be very few highly-specced examples on the second-hand market in the future.

Let them take the hit I say..it can only benefit those of us that never buy brand new :)

1.6tdi's are not bad at all if you don't ever drive for personal satisfaction. My father ran a mk6 1.6tdi and now runs a mk7 1.6tdi, and honestly there is little performance difference between those and my 140PD a3. They have the same torque figure which helps a great deal. His sounds much better and quieter than mine too, not to mention £35 a year to tax vs my £180.

Why not? Diesel has come a long long way especially BMW diesels.

If you wanted to spend £100,000 on a BMW of all things you wouldn't pick a 3 litre diesel one. Which is why none of the cars on the BMW AUC site right now have £40,000 of options fitted to them.

Holy crap what a difference, if you own an E46, do this ^

Haha I did mine recently along with Powerflex bushes - such a massive difference it's unreal. I'm yet to do the RTAB's but once on, I'll be getting it on a Hunter alignment machine to get it perfected. :D

How much does it cost?

Got some more numbers now, be much easier if they just quoted you a base cost then how much a month each extra would be rather than me keep hassling them for quotes with the various options :p

These are some of the possible extra costs on top of the base quote for a 5 door manual doing 15k a year (£279):

Auto Box - £23
Metallic Paint - £3.50
Driver Comfort Pack - £13
Nav Business - £12
Nav Pro - £41
Harmon Kardon - £15
Heated Front Seats - £9

Getting a lovely rattle from what appears to be the disa valve. Done a bit of light research but nothing major, has anyone had and fixed this issue?
