BMW and M Power Owners

60-100k on all of those parts. Buy good quality (actual genuine BMW, not supposed OE suppliers) or it will be shot again in a couple of years. Saying that, I've experienced genuine parts failing in less time than that, I honestly think the parts now are not the same quality as the original ones.

Most of it is simple diy if you've got somewhere relatively dry and warm to do it.

Stat/ waterpump, disa, are a piece of cake as is the rad and expansion tank ( which I wouldn't do unless you need to, when they go they go).

Ccv and vanos seals ( and valve cover gasket) aren't technically difficult but are time consuming, trailing arms are simple so long as you have a decent press of some sort ( I used an eBay tool and electric impact gun) but involves lying on the ground in winter, as do the front arms.

Given you need it aligned after these I'd be tempted to get someone to do them if its going to be done in winter

quick question about run flats .....currently have run flats , would you advise to get 'normal' tyres when there due ? as i heard they can hinder ride quality/handling ? obvisouly no spare wheel, but id be a bit dubious about driving anywhere with a puncture even with run flats...any suggestions ?

Am I glad I bought a warranty, this morning car started just fine drove to work, absolutely hectic anyway came to lunchtime and I needed to post a parcel which should have gone yesterday so had to get out, got to one Post Office to find it was closed, drove a couple of miles to another, handed the prepaid parcel over to find I'd paid £2 too much postage :(, went out bought mine and my brothers lunch jumped back in car nothing, it kind of tried to turn once then nothing, so called the AA and fortunately 25mins later he was there, tested battery but found to be good, turned out to be starter motor, 5 mins later bashing it with a hammer no go! Got a tow to the BMW dealer to find out if I'd phoned BMW assist I'd of been given a car until mine was fixed..... I get a car through the AA but through enterprise or whatnot but tbh couldn't be bothered with the hassle so got a lift back to work of the AA.

Have to say the dealership was great and has just had a total facelift which was nice although I was in my scruffy work gear lol

I've got to pay my £100 excess but I'd hate to imagine what a starter motor for my e90 330d would cost inc fitting, I've also mentioned a couple of other niggles to get looked at while its in :)

Love it, looks great and the engine sounds like a corker, turbocharging will upset the purists though.
I wonder though, can a boomerang shaped strut brace really be effective?

Like that M3 a lot, finally the new shape 3 looks good. Interior look ok as well, but why did somebody zoom the picture in on just the iDrive controller??? it looks like they've modelled it on a wagon wheel?

That yellow M4 looks incredible.

Yes it's a 4 point brace so also 'caps' the engine bay whilst stiffening the towers. A direct strut would probably compromise pedestrian impact aswell with the tall engine.

got my starter motor replaced under warranty within 24 hours of it failing so happy with that :) to be told I need this doing.....

Also my rear window demister seems iffy but I'm told this wouldn't be under warranty and they want £90 to diagnose it?
