BMW and M Power Owners

That's what I was thinking really, there are lots of very good double din units around now, with or without an android I terface that would just require you to use the same facia, but would mean cutting the vent trunking a little bit.

It does look nice but I wouldn't really want my tablet in the car, even with a custom rom. A tablet with sim would make it a little better as you could just set it to go straight to a radio app from boot without needing to pair with your phone but again you'll get that in a simpler manner through just a digital head unit.

Tbh when you see double dins that have quite thick fascia panels over them it does look a bit odd too. The photo on that site hides it but if you look from a bit further out there's something not quite right about the looks.

Yup I'm a big fan of Pioneer head units and their double din ones look fine with the fascia in place too. I'll weigh up the options in time. Everything in one unit without the need to route an EQ and hub etc to the glovebox is better convenience but you do lose that cool/unique factor of hard work paying off.

I would rather pay someone to fab me a properly fitting, single din Carbon fibre fascia, and then fit a P99RS into it :)

Yeah it'd look all kinds of daft unless you wrapped all the cube trim in cf effect...which would be a hell of a lot of effort for a stereo ( not to mention likely naff looking too).

Plus single dins don't sit fully recessed due to the curvature on the OEM unit so your trim would stick out even more

Thats not going to be anything like 280bhp with a remap unless it was done last week and is scheduled to blow up next week :p

It was one or the other (260 or 280). I really like it. Feels a bit bigger than the Mondeo and it has been getting 29mpg around town.

It went back to its owner yesterday though. :(

What are the petrols like?

A mate of mine's had his Eonon D5150 in for about 2 months now with no problems at all - might be something to look at Mrk. The latest ones have CANBUS v2 modules so all of the issues with the older ones seem to have been sorted. The interface could do with some tweaking but it's otherwise a very solid unit.

The prefacelift e60 should be the car that time forgets. Very much the 5 Series low water mark.

When I see a pre-facelift E60 around here its nearly always an SE with nasty aftermarket wheels. *Shudder*

Still got another week off work so thought I would try alittle wrapping. Think I prefer it to the stock look so will probably keep it on. Carbon bonnet badge de laminated at 135mph so have another one in the post from seller.

Also drove past this house on Monday. I hope they at least work for BMW.

Funny you should say that, I've always found the 5 (E39 and E60) to feel smaller inside than the mk3 mondeo. Especially the back. In saying that it's been a while since I was in a 5 series

I put some PIAA wipers on my E46 today. One plain Super Silicone and one Sportza (Drivers side). The Sportza blade took a little bit of jiggery pokery. I had to remove the runner from the inside of the arm that marries with the clip on the end of the OEM blade. I thought that would do it but the spoiler moved over the edge of the arm when wiping. Made a clunk noise each time. Managed to fix that by putting a cable tie through the hole in the wiper arm where the runner clips on. That's enough to keep the spoiler in line.

Nice wipers. Quiet and already can see the beading effect after a quick 10 minute drive using them.

Why is that?

545 looks interesting... 330odd BHP.

Only thing i could say that was a bit disappointing was the dash, bit dreary.

Because it's rubbish spec, nasty build quality and a bizarre interior.

They removed loads of standard equipment from the previous model - LED lights, projector headlights, digital climate control, auto dimming mirror, all removed. The plastics are terrible, they are prone to rattles, the interior even when perfect just looks totally bizarre, as if the designer had a fight with a set square.

I just really, really dislike them. You can fix the spec problem by getting one thats totally loaded but come on, all of that stuff should be standard fit on this sort of car, it was in the previous model!!

The LCI fixed a lot of what was wrong with the original E60 but.. it's still an E60.

Even BMW seem to want to forget it - look at the current 5 Series, it looks like a bang up to date version of the E39 not the E60..

Just noticed on my car a service indicator has popped up, its a pic of a car with SS above it, is that basically just a annual or bi annual checkup? Oil service was only done about 6 months ago or so
