BMW and M Power Owners

Whilst I appreciate that it isn't the same sort of car and isn't an alternative you can almost buy a well specified 6 cylinder F10 - even the odd 535i pops up - for the sort of money these last gen, reasonably old cars still command. Thats a current gen, bigger and more modern car thats half the age. That really highlights how odd the pricing is on these still.

Would you mind linking a few examples? PH hasn't returned much.

There are E92 M3's on the Cutters forum for £21k. Albeit a year older.

Is there some pseudo reason the 335i coupe is holding so well?

As much as I would love an M3, it's out of the question unfortunately.

335i 's are holding their value pretty well yes, but trade values aren't exactly brilliant. Mine will be going up privately in a few months I think, and I'm glad the residuals are strong personally!

I know you didn't like yours so much Fox (except I know you LOVE the engine lol) but I still think it's a great car, especially what you actually got for the price.

Any of you e39/e46 owners use a Parrot CK3000 evo Bluetooth kit with some sort of steering wheel adapter? Which adapter? Is it essential to have the Parrot oem buttons connected? I guess so for pairing? If so, where have you hidden the Parrot control?

OEM BT refit looks a real pain and quite expensive. Is the CK3000 evo a viable alternative?

You can use the wheel controls for the basics but iirc you will still need the device to be accessible for things like pairing/syncing etc.

Is it just hands free calling you want or audio streaming too? There are a number of adapters that will sit in the glovebox( or wherever) that will give you Bluetooth, USB, aux in etc and retain steering control however most if not all of these are limited by the CD buttons on the head unit ( assuming a similar setup to mine) for mp3 playback I.e only 6 folders I believe with loads of tracks in each.

Oh and the parrot won't give you things like phone book display etc, fairly minor if you set up voice dialling on your phone.

Youre looking at about 150 for these, though if you solely want hands free its a bit cheaper iirc, same idea tho.

Oem is a pain in the balls to do, on an e46 at least.

It's a thinking mans M3 as such?

I.e. It offers terrific performance for peanuts running costs - peanuts compared to the M at least!

It seems to be the perception, but personally I don't think it is. Going from an E92 M3 to a 335i feels worlds apart in terms of performance. Also, the E92 M3 doesn't cost as much as some people seem to think. It has the same (19") size wheels and tyres as the 335i, requires servicing at the same intervals and providing you run it on a warranty, will not cost you anything in repairs.

Thanks rodenal, I'm only interested in bluetooth voice, not music. I'm not fussed about having phone book displayed on a HU or external screen.

Ive not used a steering wheel adapter but i do have a parrot kit which i have installed and moved around multiple cars now - just to confirm you do definitely need the buttons connected. The device doesn't work at all without them.

Personally i never install them in a visible location, you dont need them, stuff them into a cubby hole or the glove box or something. I just answer the phone using the handset itself, with nothing on display it feels OEM enough to me (i cant stand having anything aftermarket on display in cars).

You omit to mention that servicing on an M3 is at least twice as expensive as a 335i, and so is the cost of the warranty though.

The 335i is certainly not a direct M3 rival, but it's pretty damn close. I think the 335i prices are being kept high by the M3. Once the new M3/M4 come out and the E9x M3 prices drop, so will the 335i.

Nice looking 335i here, seems to be priced low, any reason?

PH Link

It has 73.5k miles on the clock. When I was looking I noticed that anything over 60k was generaly £2000-3000 cheaper and hung around for sake for longer. I think the main reason for this is because the price of the BMW warranty doubles over £60k.

Anyone have a 130i? tempted to get one as its last of the straight 6s, seen one with which is fairly cleaned and looked after with FBMWSH 95K 07 plate but at 7k, has everything apart from cruise control, but can retro-fit if/when require. Does the price seem about right?

No it isn't. The last service my E92 M3 had came to £420. My Z4 35i service (same type of service I.e. Oil and filters etc) comes in at around £350-£400 depending which garage I use.

Errr an oil and filter service on an E92 335i is absolutely nothing like 400 quid. As little as half that.

Not directly the same but my E90 330d Oil Service was £125 at local dealer

If you're paying that much to get an oil service on a Z4 35i then you're getting ripped off matey!
