Almost 1000 miles since Friday, had to go up North and took the opportunity to head back via Manchester and Chester for a look around. Despite the 14 hour journey from hell on Friday the more I drive this car the more I love it.

MPG?

About 45.

Edit; Just brimmed it on arrival - 317 miles from 29 litres so just over 48mpg. Incredible, especially given that it wasn't all Motorway.

Fox a quick question for you. The wife fancies an X1 Xdrive, doesn't care about the engine, wants a manual and I'm struggling even to convince her to atleast get nav, 1-3 years old, anything particularly disastrous about them?

So.... tyre chat!

The runflats on the 335i I replaced with Goodyear Eagle F1's as per recommendations on here, and they were brilliant.

The runflats on the X6.... What should I be looking at rubber wise? I want to get some options and price them up so I know what I'm dealing with come replacement time - and I'm leaning towards ditching the runflats on this if the benefits are worthwhile as per the 335. 20" standard wheels that come with the Dynamic Pack.

Gulp....I wonder how much a set of X6 20" premium tyres are :/

I really don't like these - they are based on the 2004 1 Series and are the last car in the BMW range that's part of the previous generation. Therefore despite benig 'newer' if you buy one it'll feel very dated compared to your F10. I would be doing everything I could to convince her to buy a current shape 1 Series instead. The X1 is just absolutely ancient.

Whilst I can fully appreciate the arguments in favour of ditching run flats for "normal" tyres, I would still personally advise against it.

Were you to find yourself stranded on a motorway hard shoulder due to a flat you'd rue making the change.

To my mind, the benefit of being able to still move after a puncture with a run flat, giving you opportunity to get out of such a situation, far outweighs the benefit of going back to a regular tyre that loses this ability in favour of ride improvement.

Each to his own though.

Alpina B4 BiTurbo.

Hnnnnnnng.

It's the 20" 20 profile wheels that does it, they are like the modern day CSL wheels. Makes any BMW look amazing but it has to accompany the rest of the bodykit too.

None of that M badge nonsense all over the place either, which is nice.

I think if (when!) I get the opportunity to buy a car with that much coin it will certainly be an Alpina. Too many M cars about, not enough of these which IMO look way more elegant but meaty at the same time.

I did consider the D5 Touring before I went for my 530d. But, alas, it was way too much money to get a similar spec to that which I wanted.

Same regular 3 Series interior though, just doesn't feel high end. Would prefer the 6 Series Alpina.

The "new" Alpina interior is completely customisable, you choose the materials, the leathers and the colours at purchase. The CEO stated as such in the interview video after Geneva Motorshow when the new B4, B6, B7 and D range were shown off. I suppose the plastics would be the same but the richer leather all over the place might offset that a bit?

The X6 runs on 20" run-flats?! Is that even comfy? CS5's may be a decent option?

Never been a big Alpina fan simply because of their style of alloys, they just don't look nice.

Took my M5 in today as it went into limp mode the other weekend. Had the call saying it's a problem with ABS hydraulic pump, maybe connections or wiring, they are going to confirm and let me know. Apparently if it is the ABS pump itself that is about £2500

Any reason why this would be an issue all of a sudden? Also 2.5k seems a bit steep, no?
