BMW and M Power Owners

Now I'm in need of an MOT my E60 is telling me every time I start it 'service due' obviously I don't 'need' to get an MOT by BMW but who resets the service message?

Unless with the warranty a BMW MOT (or whatever MOT station they use) would highlight any warranty issues now when I'm not paying?

No don't get a dealer to do it, a lot of BMW dealers will only take you car to another garage for an MOT anyway. You can change the date for the MOT service in iDrive when you look at the service page. Just click it on another year and get the MOT from Halfords or someone else doing half price ones.

Isn't that the vehicle check at BMW? Not the government MOT, as the Govt one you can change on the drive. The vehicle check done by BMW is like the second bit of an Inspection 2.....no?

My Z4MC, I unfortunately had to sell it last year, although it's currently for sale again as I spotted it on PistonHeads a few days back.

You can do it yourself as per Dandles instruction.

Don't forget the warranty has MOT cover additional to the warranty - it covers almost anything it could fail on if it fails, I think even bulbs are included. For that reason you might want to use BMW.

Also, a note of caution with N53 engines and non BMW MOT centres.

For years I've taken my E39 530i to the cheapest possible MOT centre I could find. Never had a single problem not even an advisory.

Did the same with the E60 525i last year and it failed on emissions. Booked it into BMW who said 'Lets us MOT it first, there might not be anything wrong'.

And it passed. Apparently it takes ages to warm all the cats up or something, which BMW knew to do but most MOT stations don't?

Look what i found at the midlands pistonheads meet tonight still on "those" tyres.

There was a police traffic car parked on the entrance to the car park unfurtunately he never wandered over ;)

I've met turbotoaster (a few moons ago back when he had an R5GTT) and he's a pretty nice guy. His choices regarding his M5 may be questionable (and by the looks of it a bit illegal )but there's no need to be commenting about him the way some of you have been considering you don't know the guy personally!

Anyway, is that colour one of the standard options or was it an Individual colour?

Surely us not knowing him doesn't make us 'deluded' into defending someone over illegal activities.

Activities that can very easily lead to fatalaties.

Right in a way but also that facts are facts.

He could be a saint but he still has illegal tyres on a car in public highways.

cool im famous!!

Also on a positive note because of that you found a picture of my car, thanks for that.

Did you go the meet? the one

Maybe winding you guys up as much as I do really does pay off.

Ill be happy in the knowledge that ill rather run these tyres than some piece of **** £50 ditch finders that will throw me into the closest tree every time i try to corner more than 6mph.

And i never said i never drove it on the road, just that when i do drive it, i use all the power properly, not what you can do with cheapo import tyres.

You should see the tread depth on some of the guys there on 888s, much less than mine, i know which im my opinion is safer, mine are designed for damp conditions, bald 888s arnt really much use for anything

Might post a picture of my perfectly working OEM M5 sachs rear dampers that i cut in half with a hacksaw because it was the easiest way to remove them for my coilovers and watch the fireworks.

Anyway, you guys take this way to seriously, im sure if you saw the state of my old tyres you would see these as a fair upgrade
