Ill be happy in the knowledge that ill rather run these tyres than some piece of **** £50 ditch finders that will throw me into the closest tree every time i try to corner more than 6mph.

Why do you keep banging on like the only choice is illegal race tyres or £50 ditchfinders?

Is there something stopping you buying quality performance road tyres so you are pretending they don't exist?

Plus no one is doubting dry grip. The wet is the problem when a kid runs in front and you can't stop. The police investigation will soon notice if your running illegal tyres.

Errrr...

:D:p

Must be significant insurance savings too. I mean what's the point in having insurance if it will be insta-voided in the event of any claim as soon as they see race slicks, so I assume you dont, right? :)

haha good one!

I was getting fuel from there as its just around the corner, and took a pic of the rear of the car to get an idea of the rake of the suspension.

I have insurance, tax and MOT by the way.

You can say this is the same as having illegal number plates or non e marked approved lights, but id rather have confidence in tyres designed by dunlop than some bottom of the barrel budget tyres.

You make your choices and live with them, im happier running these

Not been reading this thread but... That's the morrisons at Festival Park, Stoke on Trent. :)

The price I imagine. Why buy a set of £700 tyres when bald ones do the same for £0. They're all the same, they're just black bits of rubber innit.

Its a shame really. When I used to see an M5 I used to thing "wooow!". Now it seems as though even the mighty E39 M5 has yielded to those with questionable taste and without the money to even get tyres for it :(

Am I missing out seeing some epic pictures? All I see in the last couple of pages is posts talking about pictures of said car at Morrisons, yet I see.....nothing.

I thought people were posting direct links from facebook.

Yes the image in the rows of arrows is not appearing.

Oh well, will be some interesting reading at lunch.

It's not that epic either. It's just a pic of the car in morrisons car park with the said non-road legal wet slicks on it when the op said he 'doesn't use it for going down the shops'.

But does use it for going 150mph on the road, which i guess is OK

I know personal insults are not allowed so I shall refrain from calling you a complete and utter retard.

1) You have an M5. If you cannot afford to drop £500-600 on a set of tyres then you need to sell it, because you clearly cannot afford such a car.

2) The tyres you have on your car are illegal, period.

3) The tyres you have on your car are awful for the application which you have selected for them. They are designed to operate with a specific vehicle weight, suspension setup, brake setup etc. on a particular type of surface operating within a specific window of temperature in wet conditions. They will not perform as well in the dry, you are likely to never reach their proper operating temperature and frankly if you drive how you post then you should count yourself lucky that YOU haven't found a ditch yet.

4) Your insurance will be invalid with these tyres on, god help the poor person you eventually do crash into, it's inevitable. With any luck the person you hit will get a payout from your insurance. If we're really lucky the insurance company will initiate litigation to recover the costs of the payout from you and you can chuck another CCJ in your bag o' wonder.

The above details why I would like to call you a moronic idiot, however I can't because of the rules.

If god forbid he has a terrible accident involving someone else would they get a payout if his insurance was void due to tyres?

I think (note - think) legally they have to pay out for third party claims in nearly every scenario, however they are well within their right to attempt to recover these costs from the policy holder.

As far as I know, they would have no obligation to pay out to the policy holder regardless of fully comp insurance or not in this situation.

Fox knows a thing or two about insurance, he'll be along to put me right shortly no doubt.

shoe's think is correct. they will pay provided it is a valid claim etc etc and if the insurer refused to indemnify the policy holder on dodgy tyres, they will pursue him for the costs.

i cant see the images, how bad are the tyres? ive seen the massively oversized tyre pics

also, ssurely massive slicks ruin the car regardless. infinity grip, imo, is a boring thing

IIRC shoes is indeed correct. They cannot escape third party liability but they can recover the costs of meeting it from the policyholder.

First thing i learned about fast cars, was that brakes and tyres (correctly geo'ed) were more important any day of the week than a load of power.

You are basically a danger to yourself, and others around you. I'd like you to think REALLY hard about what it would be like to have your children, parents or someone you care about, KILLED by someone with the same attitude towards the safety of their car on public roads.

Race slicks on public roads in a cheap M5 - Yep, ticks all the boxes for 'i'm a chav and i can just about afford the car, but not to maintain it'.
