BMW and M Power Owners

So it seems a lot of it is down to price as well as the legal implications.

They are brand new, if they were £200 a tyre would that modify peoples thoughts slightly.

Are you really that stupid? Hang on, don't answer that question as there is little point stating the obvious.

/ is now scared to ask for tyre advice!

Ok I'll bite :)

Currently running runflats on my 19" wheels (E92 335i) - replacement rubber is needed soon and I'd rather ditch the runflats.

So - Falken 452's are what I'm looking at but I'd like some opinions on other options of similar price please! :)

Don't. I had these on my BMW when I got it and frankly they were appalling. Utter tosh.

I'm running conti sport contact 3s at the moment and can't say a bad word about them.

452s are overrated and overhyped by people who want to think they found a cheap wonder tyre.

Fox, surely they are better than the hard as nails runflats the car came with?

100% open to alternatives, hence the post :)

Are you sure about that? It's amazing you can get brand new Dunlop race tyres cheaper than used ones on Ebay...

Perhaps you work for Dunlop? Although yours didn't look particularly new in the 'unboxing' pics earlier, and look to have a similar amount of tread depth to the Ebay specials too - **** all.

You seem to think the only reason they are not road legal is because Dunlop haven't printed the right approval markings on them - lol. As others have pointed out there is far more to it than that. They are simply not designed for road use. ~90% of the time you will be well outside their narrow operating envelope and a danger to yourself and, sadly, other road users.

Nobody on M5board seems hugely impressed with your choice either...

turbotoaster you are so dumb

I don't understand why you would do that to your car. I'm surprised no one has reported your vehicle yet.

Considering you live in stoke, I have a good chance of coming across you on the road.

Do the right thing and take those tyres off, before you kill someone.

Wow, it just gets better and better. As I understand it; not only are these tyres non road legal, they are designed to work in wet conditions.

I dont drive the vehicle in the rain ...

From Dunlops Motorsport site:

"Wet tyres are made in extremely soft, temperature sensitive compounds that generate grip with the road surface despite the cooling effect of the water. Care should be taken not to continue using wet tyres once the track surface dries as overheating and degredation of the rubber compound will quickly follow".

Ummmm, I'm starting to think you don't understand how tires are made. A wet r-comp is generally useless
- overheated or over heat cycled - well before the grooves go away to approach a "slick". If you wore a rain down to slick, you'll be driving on the carcass of a former race tire.
